DTC Confirmation Procedure
WARNING:
If you do not select a suitable route and take proper precautions when performing a road test, an accident can occur.
- Select a level road with no traffic to minimize the risk of accident.
- Perform the test extremely carefully.
- Perform the road test using 2 persons, a driver and an assistant.
NOTE:
- If DTC other than aimed DTC are previously detected in DTC confirmation procedure, be sure to troubleshoot DTC previously detected.
- Check that the following conditions are satisfied when using this procedure.
- Battery voltage > 10.5 V
1) Drive vehicle more than 20 km/h (12 mile/h) for 10 sec.
DTC Troubleshooting
1.
Was "CVT System Check" performed?
YES -
Go to Step 2.
NO -
Go to CVT System Check CVT System Check.
2. Secondary pulley speed sensor power supply circuit check
Turn off ignition switch and disconnect connector from secondary pulley speed sensor.
Check for proper terminal connection to secondary pulley speed sensor connector.
If connections are OK, turn ignition switch to ON position.
Check that secondary sensor power supply circuit (A1) is battery voltage.
Are they in good condition?
YES -
Go to Step 3.
NO -
Repair or replace defective wire harness.
3. Secondary pulley speed sensor signal circuit and ground circuit check
Turn off ignition switch and disconnect connectors from TCM.
Check for proper terminal connection to TCM connectors.
If connections are OK, check that secondary pulley speed sensor signal circuit (A3) and sensor ground circuit (B1) are as follows.
- Wiring harness resistance of secondary pulley speed sensor signal circuit and sensor ground circuit is less than 1 ohms.
- Insulation resistance between secondary pulley speed sensor signal circuit and vehicle body ground is infinity.
- Insulation resistance of wire harness is infinity between secondary pulley speed sensor signal circuit terminal and each terminal at secondary pulley speed sensor connector.
- Insulation resistance of wire harness is infinity between secondary pulley speed sensor ground circuit terminal and each terminal at secondary pulley speed sensor connector.
- Circuit voltage of secondary pulley speed sensor signal circuit and sensor ground circuit is 0 - 1 V with ignition switch in ON position.
Are they in good condition?
YES -
Go to Step 4.
NO -
Repair or replace defective wire harness.
4. Secondary pulley speed sensor check
Check secondary pulley speed sensor. Primary Pulley Speed Sensor and Secondary Pulley Speed Sensor Inspection
Is it in good condition?
YES -
Substitute a known-good TCM and recheck.
NO -
Replace secondary pulley speed sensor. Secondary Pulley Speed Sensor Removal and Installation
