ENGINE IMMOBILISER: ENGINE IMMOBILISER SYSTEM: B2796, B2798: No Communication in Immobiliser System
B2798 - Communication Malfunction No. 2

DESCRIPTION

These DTCs are output if a key that does not have a transponder chip is inserted into the ignition key cylinder or if communication between the key and transponder key ECU is impossible.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

NOTICE:
* If the transponder key ECU assembly is replaced, register the key and ECU communication ID.
* If the key is replaced, register the key.

PROCEDURE

1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM

(a) Connect a Techstream to the DLC3.

(b) Turn the ignition switch to ON.

(c) Turn the tester ON.

(d) Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Immobiliser / Data List.

(e) According to the display on tester, read the "Data List".

Immobiliser:





OK:

UNSET (Ignition switch ON) appears on the screen.

NG -- CHECK KEYS

OK -- REPLACE TRANSPONDER KEY ECU Removal

2. CHECK KEYS

(a) Insert the vehicle's other key into the ignition key cylinder.

(b) Check that the engine starts with this key.

OK:

The engine starts.

NG -- REPLACE TRANSPONDER KEY AMPLIFIER

OK -- RE-REGISTER OR REPLACE KEY THAT CANNOT START ENGINE

3. REPLACE TRANSPONDER KEY AMPLIFIER

(a) Replace the transponder key amplifier Removal.

NEXT -- Continue to next step.

4. CHECK ENGINE START

(a) Check that the engine starts.

OK:

The engine starts.

NG -- REPLACE TRANSPONDER KEY ECU Removal

OK -- END (TRANSPONDER KEY AMPLIFIER IS DEFECTIVE)
