DESCRIPTION

* The combination meter assembly controls the fuel receiver gauge in accordance with the resistance of the fuel sender gauge, which varies depending on the amount of fuel remaining in the fuel tank.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE

1. CONFIRM DTC OUTPUT

(a) Check DTC Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.

B -- GO TO DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART Meter / Gauge System
A -- Continue to next step.

2. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (FUEL METER OPERATION)

(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

(b) Turn the ignition switch to ON.

(c) Turn the Techstream on.

(d) Enter following menus: Body Electrical / Combination Meter / Active Test.

(e) According to the display on the Techstream, perform the Active Test.

Combination Meter





OK:

Fuel receiver gauge indication is normal.

NG -- REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY Removal
OK -- Continue to next step.

3. INSPECT FUEL SENDER GAUGE ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the fuel sender gauge assembly Removal.

(b) Check that the float moves smoothly between F and E.

(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:





(d) Reinstall the fuel sender gauge assembly.

NG -- REPLACE FUEL SENDER GAUGE ASSEMBLY Removal
OK -- Continue to next step.

4. CHECK FUEL SUCTION PLATE SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the fuel suction plate sub-assembly Disassembly.





(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

(c) Reinstall the fuel suction plate sub-assembly.

NG -- REPLACE FUEL SUCTION PLATE SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal
OK -- Continue to next step.

5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY - FUEL SUCTION PLATE SUB-ASSEMBLY)

(a) Disconnect the E13 combination meter assembly connector.

(b) Disconnect the L5 fuel suction plate sub-assembly connector.

(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:





(d) Reconnect the fuel suction plate sub-assembly connector.

(e) Reconnect the combination meter assembly connector.

NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

OK -- REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY Removal
