DESCRIPTION
* When the fuel lid opener switch is pushed, a fuel lid opener switch signal is sent to the ECM. The ECM sends a fuel lid open output request signal to the fuel lid opening lid lock, and operates the fuel lid opener motor.
When the fuel lid opener not operate, one of the following may be malfunctioning: 1) SFI system, 2) FUEL OPN fuse, 3) fuel lid opener switch, 4) fuel lid opener motor, 5) wire harness or connector, or 6) ECM.
If the fuel tank pressure sensor or fuel vapor containment valve is malfunctioning, the hybrid vehicle control ECU stores the DTC and the fuel lid opener motor will not operate.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
PROCEDURE
1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (SFI SYSTEM)
(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
(b) Turn the ignition switch to ON.
(c) Turn the Techstream on.
(d) Enter the following menu items: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes.
(e) Check the DTC(s) and freeze frame data, and write them down.
(f) Check the details of the DTC(s).
Result:
A -- GO TO SFI SYSTEM (DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART) SFI System
B -- Continue to next step.
2. INSPECT FUSE (FUEL OPN)
(a) Remove the FUEL OPN fuse from the instrument panel junction block.
(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:
NG -- REPLACE FUSE (FUEL OPN)
OK -- Continue to next step.
3. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (FUEL LID OPENER SWITCH)
(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
(b) Turn the ignition switch to ON.
(c) Turn the Techstream on.
(d) Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Data List.
(e) Read the Data List according to the display on the Techstream.
Engine and ECT:
OK:
On the Techstream screen, the item changes between ON and OFF according to the chart above.
NG -- INSPECT FUEL LID OPENER SWITCH
OK -- Continue to next step.
4. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (FUEL LID OPENER MOTOR)
(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
(b) Turn the ignition switch to ON.
(c) Turn the Techstream on.
(d) Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Active Test.
(e) Perform the Active Test according to the display on the Techstream.
Engine and ECT:
OK:
Fuel lid is opened by Active Test.
NG -- INSPECT FUEL LID OPENER MOTOR ASSEMBLY
OK -- REPLACE ECM Removal
5. INSPECT FUEL LID OPENER MOTOR ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove the fuel lid opener motor Removal.
(b) Apply battery voltage to the lock control and check the motor operates in the open direction.
Standard:
(c) Check the shaft stroke.
Standard:
10.3 mm (0.406 in.) or more.
NG -- REPLACE FUEL LID OPENER MOTOR ASSEMBLY Removal
OK -- Continue to next step.
6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (FUEL LID OPENER MOTOR - ECM)
(a) Disconnect the fuel lid opener motor connector.
(b) Disconnect the ECM connector.
(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.
7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (FUEL LID OPENER MOTOR - BATTERY)
(a) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard voltage:
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- REPLACE ECM Removal
8. INSPECT FUEL LID OPENER SWITCH
(a) Remove the fuel lid opener switch Removal.
(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:
NG -- REPLACE FUEL LID OPENER SWITCH Removal
OK -- Continue to next step.
9. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (FUEL LID OPENER SWITCH - ECM)
(a) Disconnect the ECM connector.
(b) Disconnect the fuel lid opener switch connector.
(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.
10. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (FUEL LID OPENER SWITCH - BODY GROUND)
(a) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- REPLACE ECM Removal
