DESCRIPTION

When the stop light switch is turned on, current flows to the stop lights to illuminate them.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE

1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (STOP LIGHT SWITCH)

(a) Operate the Techstream according to the display and select the "Data List".

Main Body





OK:

On the Techstream screen, each item changes between ON and OFF according to above chart

NG -- INSPECT FUSE (STOP)
OK -- Continue to next step.

2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (STOP LIGHT CONTROL RELAY - BATTERY AND BODY GROUND)

(a) Disconnect the A39 stop light relay connector.





(b) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Voltage:





(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:





NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.

3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (STOP LIGHT CONTROL RELAY - STOP LIGHT SWITCH)

(a) Disconnect the A30 stop light switch connector.





(b) Disconnect the A39 relay connector.

(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:





NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.

4. INSPECT BRAKE LIGHT RELAY

(a) Remove the brake light relay from the engine room relay block.





(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:





NG -- REPLACE BRAKE LIGHT RELAY
OK -- Continue to next step.

5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (STOP LIGHT CONTROL RELAY - BRAKE LIGHT RELAY)





(a) Remove the brake light relay from the engine room relay block.

(b) Disconnect the A39 stop light control relay connector.

(c) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Voltage:





Measure the Resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:





NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.

6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BRAKE LIGHT RELAY - STOP LIGHT AND BODY GROUND)





(a) Remove the brake light relay from the engine room relay block.

(b) Rear Combination Light:

(c) for LH:

(1) Disconnect the K4 and L3 light connectors.

(2) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:

for LH






Standard Resistance:

for RH






(d) High Mount Stop Light:





(1) Disconnect the S4 high mount stop light connector.

(2) Measure the Resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:





NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.

7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BRAKE LIGHT RELAY - BATTERY)

(a) Remove the brake light relay from the engine room relay block.





(b) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Voltage:





NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.

8. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BRAKE LIGHT RELAY - SKID CONTROL ECU)





(a) Remove the brake light relay from the engine room relay block.

(b) Disconnect the A24 ECU connector.

(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:





NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.

9. CHECK STOP LIGHT CONTROL RELAY

(a) Temporarily replace the stop light control relay with a new or normally functioning one.

(b) Check the stop light operation.

OK:

Stop light operation is normal.

NG -- REPLACE MASTER CYLINDER SOLENOID Removal

OK -- REPLACE STOP LIGHT CONTROL RELAY Testing and Inspection

10. INSPECT FUSE (STOP)

(a) Remove the STOP fuse from the engine room relay block.

(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:





NG -- REPLACE FUSE
OK -- Continue to next step.

11. INSPECT STOP LIGHT SWITCH

(a) Remove the stop light switch Removal.





(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:





NG -- REPLACE STOP LIGHT SWITCH Removal
OK -- Continue to next step.

12. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (STOP LIGHT SWITCH - BATTERY)

(a) Disconnect the A30 stop light switch connector.





(b) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Voltage:





NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.

13. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (MAIN BODY ECU - STOP LIGHT SWITCH)

(a) Disconnect the A30 stop light switch connector.





(b) Disconnect the 2B ECU connector.

(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:





NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

OK -- REPLACE MAIN BODY ECU
