Removal





U760E AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION / TRANSAXLE: AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE ASSEMBLY: REMOVAL

NOTICE:
If automatic transaxle parts are replaced, refer to Parts Replacement Compensation Table to determine if any additional operations are necessary Service Precautions.

1. REMOVE ENGINE ASSEMBLY WITH TRANSAXLE

2. REMOVE STARTER ASSEMBLY Removal

3. DISCONNECT ENGINE WIRE

(a) Disengage the 2 clamps and disconnect the engine wire.





(b) Disconnect the air fuel ratio sensor connector.

(c) Disengage the clamp and disconnect the engine wire.





(d) Disconnect the park/neutral position switch connector.

(e) Disengage the 3 clamps and disconnect the engine wire.





(f) Remove the bolt and separate the ground wire.

(g) Disengage the 4 clamps and disconnect the engine wire.





(h) Turn the lock lever and disconnect the connector from the TCM.

4. REMOVE AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the 9 bolts and remove the automatic transaxle from the engine.





NOTICE:
To prevent damage to the knock pins, do not pry between the transaxle and engine.

5. REMOVE TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the torque converter from the automatic transaxle.





6. DISCONNECT BREATHER PLUG HOSE

(a) Disengage the clamp and disconnect the breather plug hose from the flexible hose bracket.





7. REMOVE FLEXIBLE HOSE BRACKET SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the bolt and flexible hose bracket from the automatic transaxle.





8. REMOVE FRONT ENGINE MOUNTING BRACKET

(a) Remove the 3 bolts and front engine mounting bracket from the automatic transaxle.





9. REMOVE TCM

(a) Remove the 2 bolts and remove the TCM from the automatic transaxle.





10. REMOVE WIRE HARNESS CLAMP BRACKET

(a) Remove the 5 bolts and 5 clamp brackets from the automatic transaxle.





11. REMOVE NO. 1 TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE BRACKET

(a) Remove the 2 bolts and No. 1 transmission control cable bracket from the automatic transaxle.





12. REMOVE TRANSMISSION CASE PLUG ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the transmission case plug from the automatic transaxle.





(b) Remove the O-ring from the transmission case plug.

13. INSPECT TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH ASSEMBLY Testing and Inspection
