Basic Setting (function 04)

NOTE: The basic setting must be initiated after performing any of the following repairs:

- Replacing engine
- Replacing Engine Control Module (ECM)
- Replacing/altering throttle valve
- Adjusting throttle valve (setting idling speed).
- Replacing Throttle Position (TP) Sensor -G69-
- Altering setting of Throttle Position (TP) Sensor -G69- (engine)
- Replacing Diesel engine injection pump
- Changes to control lever, altering setting of residual quantity or maximum speed adjustment screw on Diesel engines
- Replacing Transmission Control Module (TCM) -J217-
- Connect VAG 1551 Scan Tool (ST) and enter address word 02 for "Transmission Electronics" and advance VAG 1551 Scan Tool (ST) program until "Select function XX" appears in display. Scan Tool Connecting and Initial Checks

- Press keys -0- and -4-. (To select function 04 "Initiating basic setting").

NOTE: Accelerator Pedal must remain in closed throttle position.

- Press keys -0- twice (to input display group 00).
- Press -Q- key to confirm input.

- Depress Accelerator Pedal as far as kickdown and hold in this position for 3 seconds.
- Press -> key.
