Basic Principles

Transaxle problems fall into two categories, those that can be fixed by external adjustments, and those which require removal and disassembly of the transaxle.

To avoid removing the transaxle unnecessarily, check and adjust the gearshift mechanism properly. Correct any leaks before suspecting an internal problem.

As with most troubleshooting, logical analysis of the symptoms is the key to isolating and identifying the problem. A good road test and understanding of how the transaxle works, is very important when troubleshooting.
