- VAG 1551/1552 Scan Tool using VAG 1551/3 adaptor cable
- VAG 1598/22 Test Box
- VW 1594 Adaptor kit
- VAG 1527B Voltage tester
- Wiring diagram

Test sequence

- Connect VAG 1551/1552 Scan Tool. [1][2]Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes
- Start engine and let idle
- Press 0 and 1 buttons to select Address word 01: "Engine electronics"


WARNING! Secure Scan Tool to rear seat and operate from this position using a second technician.

- Press 0 and 8 buttons to select Function 08: "Read measuring value block"
- Press Q button to enter input

- Press 0, 0 and 9 buttons to select "Display group 9"
- Press Q button to enter input
- While making a test drive, have a 2nd technician watch Scan Tool display.
- Observe value in display zone 3 when shifting 2nd gear:
- Specification: Briefly less than 51 mg/h.


NOTE: Data transfer is slow it is possible that the specification display is delayed for a few moments.


If the specification is not attained:
- Press -> button.
- Press 0 and 6 buttons to select Function 06: "End output"
- Press Q button to enter input
- Switch OFF ignition.

- Connect VAG 1598/22 Test Box to ECM harness connector.







- Check wire connection for open circuits or short circuits between ECM and TCM
