On Board Diagnostic, Initiating Program
Comfort system
Requirements
- Voltage supply and fuses OK
- "Terminal 15 on" required to initiate On Board Diagnostic (OBD)
NOTES:
- If the display remains blank, check the VAG 1551 voltage supply See "Electrical Wiring Diagrams.
- Additional operating instructions can be obtained by pressing the VAG 1551 Scan Tool (ST) "HELP" button.
- The -> button is used to advance through the program sequence.
- The "PRINT" button is used for switching on the printer (warning lamp in button lights up).
- Connect VAG 1551 scan tool. VAG 1551 Scan Tool Connecting
- Initiate On Board Diagnostic (OBD).
- Switch ignition on.
- Switch printer on with "PRINT" button (warning lamp in button lights up).

The program can be advanced to the "Rapid data transfer, select function XX" option using the -C- button.

- If one of the malfunction types appear in the display, the possible causes of the malfunction can be printed out by pressing the "HELP" button.

- The ignition must be switched on.

K wire not switching to B+
- Malfunctions have occurred at the start of or during the program (external interference?).

No signal from control module
- Check wiring connections for Data Link Connector (DL C) as well as voltage supply and Ground (GND) connections.

Error in communication link
- After repairing possible causes of malfunction, once again press buttons -4- and -6- to insert "Comfort System" address word 46.
