Selector mechanism, removing and installing
Removing
- Obtain radio code.
- Shift selector lever into park, position "P".
- Disconnect battery ground (GND) strap.
- Remove selector lever handle. Selector Lever
- Remove center console and extension.
- Unplug electrical connectors.
- Remove cover.
- Raise vehicle.
- Remove catalyst or front exhaust pipe.
- Unbolt front heat shield from bottom of mounting bracket and slide toward the rear.





- Remove cover from mounting bracket (arrows).





- Press ends of securing clip -B- together and remove.
- Pull down locking plate -A- (for securing selector lever cable to mounting bracket) and remove.
- Pull selector lever cable off selector lever.
- Unclip locking cable from securing spring on mounting bracket. To do this, lift securing spring slightly.
- Remove four nuts.
- Remove mounting bracket from below.
- Simultaneously pull selector lever cable out of mounting bracket, and ensure the cable is not kinked.

Installing
- Shift selector lever and selector shaft lever to park position "P" (parking lock must engage).
- Raise vehicle.
- Insert selector lever cable in mounting bracket.
- Ensure selector lever cable is not kinked.
- Install mounting bracket on body.
- Tighten four nuts from above to 10 Nm (7 ft. lbs.).
- Connect electrical connections.
- Install locking cable and adjust. Shift Interlock Cable
- Install cover.
- Shift selector lever into position "2"
- Install selector lever handle. Selector Lever
- Connect selector lever cable to selector lever.





- Fit locking plate -A- for selector lever cable onto mounting bracket.
Installation position: The angled end of the locking plate must point towards the end of the selector lever cable.
- Press together ends of securing clip -B- and slide onto end of selector lever cable.
- Install cover.





- Tighten four nuts to 10 Nm (7 ft. lbs.).
- Check selector lever cable adjustment, adjust if necessary.
- Check ignition lock key withdrawal.
- Install heat shield.
- Remove catalyst or front exhaust pipe.
- Install center console and extension.
- Reconnect ground (GND) strap to battery.
- Re-code radio.
- Check selector mechanism. Testing and Inspection
