• Marked by three depressions around the circumference of the exhaust pipe

• At factory, exhaust pipe and rear mufflers are installed as a single component. Replacement exhaust pipe and rear muffler are supplied separately, with replacement double clamp for connecting joint.

• Cut through exhaust pipe with body repair saw ( V.A.G 1523A) at right angles at separating point=> [ Separation Point on Exhaust Pipe ]

Procedure

- Position double clamp approximately 5 mm from marking A - arrow 2 -.

• The marking "A" - arrow 2 - applies to vehicles with manual transmission and automatic transmission.

• The marking "S" - arrow 1 - does not apply to this engine.

Installed Location of Mountings





Procedure

- Angled side at foot of suspended mount - arrow - faces front of vehicle.

Separation Point on Exhaust Pipe





Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• body repair saw (V.A.G 1523 A)

Procedure

- Cut through exhaust pipe at right angle at separating point - 2 -.

- When installing, position the repair double clamp - 4 - on the side markings - arrows 1 and 3 -.

Tightening specification: 40 Nm

Installing Muffler Free of Tension





Procedure

- Mounting bolt at exhaust pipe must be parallel to tunnel bridge (dimension - x - same at left and right).
