Cylinder Head Overview
• When installing a replacement cylinder head, all of the contact surfaces between the supports, roller rocker arms and cam running surfaces on the camshaft must be lubricated before installing the cylinder head cover.
• The plastic protectors installed to protect the open valves must only be removed immediately before installing the cylinder head.
• Replace the cylinder head bolts.
• If the cylinder head is going to be replaced, then it is also necessary to replace all the coolant.

2 Cylinder Head Cover
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Cylinder Head Cover ] Service and Repair.
3 Gasket
• Replace if damaged or leaking.
4 Crankcase Ventilation Valve
5 Cap
6 Gasket
• Replace if damaged or leaking.
7 Bolt
• 4 Nm
8 Cylinder Head Cover Seal
• Replace if damaged or leaking.
9 Vacuum Pump
10 Bolt
• 4 Nm
11 Camshaft Adjustment Valve 1 (N205)
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Camshaft Adjustment Valve 1 (N205) ] Camshaft Adjustment Valve 1 (N205).
12 Seal
• Always replace.

14 Wire Bracket

• Replace if damaged or leaking.

• Note the installed position: The part number faces the cylinder head.

25 Camshaft Position Sensor (G40)

• 10 Nm
• For the toothed belt tensioner.
28 Stud Bolt
• 20 Nm
• For the exhaust manifold.
29 Bolt
• 40 Nm + 180° (1/2) additional turn.
• Always replace.
• Follow the loosening/tightening sequence. Refer to => [ Cylinder Head ] Cylinder Head.
Checking the Cylinder Head for Distortion:
- Check the cylinder head at multiple points for distortion using a straight edge 500 mm (VAS 6075) and feeler gauges.
• Maximum permissible distortion: 0.1 mm
- Replace the cylinder head if the maximum distortion is exceeded.
