Electrical and Electronic Components and Locations
1 Transmission Control Module (TCM) (J217)
• The control module sends and receives data via CAN-bus.
• Removing, installing and location.
• Can be checked in "Guided Fault Finding" using the (VAS 5051). Refer to => [ Vehicle Tester, Connecting and Selecting Functions ] Scan Tool Testing and Procedures.
2 Engine Control Module (ECM)
• The control module sends and receives data via CAN-bus.
3 Multifunction Transmission Range Switch (F125)
• Can be checked in "Guided Fault Finding" using the (VAS 5051). Refer to => [ Vehicle Tester, Connecting and Selecting Functions ] Scan Tool Testing and Procedures.
• Removing, installing and adjusting. Refer to => [ Multifunction Transmission Range Switch ] Service and Repair.
4 Valve Body
• Components can be checked in "Guided Fault Finding" using the (VAS 5051). Refer to => [ Vehicle Tester, Connecting and Selecting Functions ] Scan Tool Testing and Procedures.
5 Sensor Wiring Harness
• With the transmission fluid temperature sensor (G93).
6 Transmission Fluid Temperature Sensor (G93)
• Can be checked in "Guided Fault Finding" using the (VAS 5051). Refer to => [ Vehicle Tester, Connecting and Selecting Functions ] Scan Tool Testing and Procedures.
7 Solenoid Valve Wiring Harness
8 Electronic Ignition Lock (D9)
The following components are integrated (depending on vehicle equipment) in the electronic ignition lock:
• Access/start authorization switch (E415)
• Ignition switch key lock solenoid (N376)
9 Ignition Key
10 Transmission Input Speed (RPM) Sensor (G182)
• Can be checked in "Guided Fault Finding" using the (VAS 5051). Refer to => [ Vehicle Tester, Connecting and Selecting Functions ] Scan Tool Testing and Procedures.
11 Transmission Output Speed (RPM) Sensor (G195)
• Can be checked in "Guided Fault Finding" using the (VAS 5051). Refer to => [ Vehicle Tester, Connecting and Selecting Functions ] Scan Tool Testing and Procedures.
12 Shift Lock Solenoid (N110)
• Installed location: the shift lock solenoid is located in the selector mechanism.
• Can be checked in "Guided Fault Finding" using the (VAS 5051). Refer to => [ Vehicle Tester, Connecting and Selecting Functions ] Scan Tool Testing and Procedures.
13 Tiptronic Switch (F189)
• Can be checked in "Guided Fault Finding" using the (VAS 5051). Refer to => [ Vehicle Tester, Connecting and Selecting Functions ] Scan Tool Testing and Procedures.
14 Power Supply Relay (terminal 50) (J682)
• In the E-box in the engine compartment.
15 Data Link Connector (DLC)
16 Selector Lever Position Display (Y6)
TCM
Installed location: the control module - arrow - is located in the left front wheel housing.
- For removal or installation, the wheel housing liner must be removed.
Multifunction Transmission Range Switch
Installed location: the multifunction switch is located on the upper side of the transmission.
Valve Body
Installed location: the valve body is bolted to the underside of the transmission housing and is covered by the transmission oil pan.
Solenoid valves (N88) and (N89) as well as pressure control valves (N90), (N91), (N92), (N93), (N282) and (N283) are secured to the valve body.
Sensor Wiring Harness
• Wiring harness for sensors
• With integrated transmission fluid temperature sensor (G93) - arrow -
Installed location: the wiring harness is secured to the valve body in the transmission.
Solenoid Valve Wiring Harness
• Wiring harness for the solenoid valves
Installed location: the wiring harness is secured to the valve body in the transmission.
Electronic Ignition Lock
Installed location: the ignition lock - 1 - is installed next to the steering column in the instrument panel.

Transmission Input Speed (RPM) Sensor and Transmission Output Speed (RPM) Sensor
Installed location: the sensors are installed above the valve body in the transmission housing.

Tiptronic Switch
Installed location: the Tiptronic switch is integrated in the selector mechanism.
For vehicles with a multifunction steering wheel, also the buttons on the steering wheel and corresponding wire connections must be checked.
DLC
Installed location: the DLC - arrow - is located under driver's storage compartment
Selector Lever Position Display
Installed location: inside the instrument cluster.

4 Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) Line
• Return line.
• Always replace the O-ring.
5 ATF Line
• Supply line.
• Always replace the O-ring.
6 Bolt
• 5 Nm
7 Bolt
• 9 Nm
ATF Lines
1 Bolt
• 20 Nm
2 ATF Line
• Supply and return line.
• Always replace the O-rings.
