• Punch (VW 407)
• Drift (T10168)
• Thrust Piece (T40008)
• Kukko Extractor 14.5-18.5 mm (Kukko 21/2)
• Kukko Extractor 23.5-30 mm (Kukko 21/4)
• Kukko Support (Kukko 22/2)
1 Bushing
• For the selector rods.
• Replace after each disassembly.
2 Axle for Reverse Gear Shift Fork
• Mount the reverse gear shift fork on the axle, refer to => [ The reverse gear shift
fork is mounted on the axle behind
the 5th and 6th gear shift rod. ] Transmission, With Cap/Input Shaft Circlip.
• Axle cannot be removed with workshop equipment.
• When using a new clutch housing, a new axle must be pressed in.
• Bearing on the shift rod for the 5th and 6th gear shift fork, refer to => [ The reverse gear shift
fork is mounted on the shift rod with the 5th
and 6th gear shift fork. ] Transmission, With Cap/Input Shaft Circlip.
3 Needle Bearing
• For the reverse shaft.
• Replace after each disassembly.
4 Alignment Bushing
• Quantity: 2
5 Clutch Housing
• When replacing: adjust the output shaft and differential, refer to => [ Adjustment Overview ] Adjustment Overview.
6 Input Shaft Seal
• Replacing, refer to => [ Input Shaft Seal ] Input Shaft Seal.
Seal can only be removed using the (30-21) when transmission is disassembled.
7 Oil Seal
• For the stub shaft, up to transmission build date 31 November 2004.
• Replacing on the GTI through 2009, refer to => [ Right Stub Shaft Seal, through 31 October 2004, Transmission Installed ].
• For flange shaft, as of transmission build date 4 November 2001
• Replacing on the GTI through 2009 from transmission build date 4 November 2001, Golf/GTI through 2010 Passat, Passat CC, CC and Eos. Refer to => [ Right Flange Shaft Seal, from November 1 2004 ] Right Flange Shaft Seal, From November 1 2004.
8 Washer
• For the differential.
• Installed position: shoulder on inner diameter faces toward the seal - item 7 -.
9 Outer Race/Tapered Roller Bearing
• For the differential.
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Differential ] Differential.
• When replacing: adjust the differential, refer to => [ Differential, Adjusting ] Adjustments.
10 Oil Deflector Ring
• Installed position: shoulder at hole points toward output shaft.
11 Outer Race/Tapered Roller Bearing
• For output shaft for 1st to 4th gear.
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Output Shaft, 1st to 4th Gears ] Output Shaft, 1st to 4th Gears.
• Adjust, if the output shaft for 1st to 4th gear is replaced. Refer to => [ Output Shaft, 1st to 4th Gears, Adjusting ] Output Shaft, 1st to 4th Gears, Adjusting.
12 Outer Race/Tapered Roller Bearing
• For the output shaft for 5th/6th and reverse gear.
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Output Shaft, 5th, 6th and Reverse Gears ] Output Shaft, 5th, 6th and Reverse Gears.
• When replacing: adjust the output shaft for 5th/6th and reverse gear. Refer to => [ Output Shaft, 5th, 6th and Reverse Gears, Adjusting ] Output Shaft, 5th, 6th and Reverse Gears, Adjusting.
13 Washer
• For the output shaft for 5th/6th and reverse gear.
• Always 0.65 mm thick.
14 Roller Bearing
• For the input shaft.
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Input Shaft Overview ] Input Shaft Overview.
15 Magnet
• Held in place by housing joint surface.
16 Cap
• Not present on all clutch housings.

B Internal puller 14.5 to 18.5 mm, for example, (21/2)
Driving In Bushing for Selector Rod to Tool Stop
Pull Needle Bearing Off Clutch Housing
A Support, for example, (22/2)
B Internal puller 23.5 to 30 mm, for example, (21/4)
• Needle bearing is destroyed when it is removed and must be replaced.
Pressing Needle Bearing - A - into Clutch Housing
- During pressing sequence, place thrust washer - B - for reverse shaft on needle bearing.
Press Axle for Reverse Gear Shift Fork into Clutch Housing
