Selector Lever and Mechanism with Cable, from 03.2009
Short Description
The selector mechanism and the selector lever cable cannot be separated from each other. Both are removed at the same time. It may be necessary to create some open space in the engine compartment. Many times it is necessary to remove the air filter housing.
In the vehicle interior, it may be necessary to remove the center console.
• After installation, the cable must be checked for ease of movement and must be adjusted.
- Place the selector lever in the "P" position.
- Remove the shift handle with cover. Refer to => [ Shift Handle with Cover ] Removal and Replacement.
- Remove the center console.
- Remove the 4 bolts.
Tightening specification: 8 Nm.
- Raise the vehicle.
- Remove the heat shield. This way removal is easier later.
- Remove the lock washers - A and B -. The lock washers must later be replaced when adjusting cable.
Loosen the adjustment bolt - arrow -.
- Put the vehicle and the transmission in the "P" position before installing the cable.
- In order to remove the cable and/or selector mechanism, the heat shield and if necessary other exhaust system components must now be removed. Refer to one of the following:
Gas engines.
Diesel engines.
- Remove the selector mechanism.
Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal.
- Check the cable before installing it on the transmission. Refer to => [ Selector Lever Cable, Checking through 02.2009 ] Selector Lever Cable, Checking through 02.2009.
- Install the exhaust system components, refer to one of the following:.
Gas engines.
Diesel engines.
- Install the heat shield.
- Adjust the selector lever cable after installing. Refer to => [ Selector Lever Cable Adjustment, through 02.2009 ] Adjustments.
