Turbocharger: Description and Operation






General Repair Information

CAUTION!
The charge air hose clamps must be tightened to 5.5 Nm. An insufficient or excessive tightening torque can cause the charge air hoses to come off the charge air pipe while driving.

Charge air system hose connections must be free of oil and grease before installing. The sealing ring and sealing surfaces must only be lightly oiled. Refer to --> [ Charge Air Hose Connector Coupling, Disconnecting and Connecting ] Charge Air Hose Connector Coupling, Disconnecting and Connecting.

Secure all hose connections using hose clamps appropriate for the model type.

The charge air system must be properly sealed.

Replace the self locking nuts.

Spring type clip pliers (VAS 5024A) or hose clip pliers (VAS 6362) are recommended for installing spring clamps.

Add oil to the turbocharger through oil supply line connection.

After installing the turbocharger, let engine idle for approximately 1 minute without increasing the engine speed. This ensures adequate oil to the turbocharger.
