B1D63
B1D63 - Power Seat Switch Open
• When Monitored: With the ignition ON.
• Set Condition: When the memory seat module detects an open driver seat switch MUX circuit this code will set.
Test Step 1 - Test For Intermittent Condition
• Turn the ignition ON.
• With the scan tool, erase all DTCs.
• Press the driver seat switch in all directions several times.
• Wait one minute.
• With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Does the scan tool display B1D63 - Power Seat Switch Open?
Yes
• Go to Test Step 2 => [ Test Step 2 - Check the Driver Seat Circuit Resistances ]
No
• The condition that caused this symptom is currently not present. Check for an intermittent condition by inspecting the related wiring harness for chafed, pierced, pinched, and partially broken wires. Also, inspect the related connectors for broken, bent, pushed out, spread, corroded, or contaminated terminals. Repair as necessary.
• Perform Power Seat System Verification Test. Refer to => Non - DTC Based Diagnostics. Power Seat System Verification Test
Test Step 2 - Check the Driver Seat Circuit Resistances
• Turn the ignition OFF.
• Disconnect the driver seat switch.
• Disconnect the memory seat module C7 harness connector.
• Measure the resistance of each of the driver seat switch circuits between the driver seat switch harness connector and the memory seat module C7 harness connector.
Is the resistance below 10.0 ohms for each circuit?
Yes
• Go to Test Step 3 => [ Test Step 3 - Check the Driver Seat Circuit Resistances to Ground ]
No
• Repair the circuits that measured above 10.0 ohms for an open.
• Perform Power Seat System Verification Test. Refer to => Non - DTC Based Diagnostics. Power Seat System Verification Test
Test Step 3 - Check the Driver Seat Circuit Resistances to Ground
• Measure the resistance between ground and each of the driver seat switch circuits at the driver seat switch harness connector.
Is the resistance above 10k ohms for each circuit?
Yes
• Go to Test Step 4 => [ Test Step 4 - Check the MSM Sensor Supply and Sensor Return ]
No
• Repair the circuits that measured below 10k ohms for a short to ground.
• Perform Power Seat System Verification Test. Refer to => Non - DTC Based Diagnostics. Power Seat System Verification Test
Test Step 4 - Check the MSM Sensor Supply and Sensor Return
• Reconnect the memory seat module C7 harness connector.
• Turn the ignition ON.
• Measure the voltage between the driver memory seat switch sense feed circuit and the driver memory seat switch sense return circuit at the driver seat switch harness connector.
Is the voltage above 11.0 volts?
Yes
• Go To.=> [ Test Step 5 - Driver Seat Switch (Fore/Aft) ]
No
• Replace the memory seat module.
• Perform Power Seat System Verification Test. Refer to => Non - DTC Based Diagnostics. Power Seat System Verification Test
Test Step 5 - Driver Seat Switch (Fore/Aft)
• Turn the ignition OFF.
• Reconnect the driver seat switch harness connector.
• Turn the ignition ON.
• Backprobe and measure the voltage of the driver seat base fore/aft MUX circuit while moving the driver seat fore/aft switch up, down, forward and rearward.
• The voltage readings for all positions should be between 1.0 volt and 5.0 volts.
Is the voltage between 1.0 and 5.0 volts when the driver seat fore/aft switch is moved to each position?
Yes
• Go to Test Step 6 => [ Test Step 6 - Driver Seat Switch Recline ]
No
• Replace the driver seat switch.
• Perform Power Seat System Verification Test. Refer to => Non - DTC Based Diagnostics. Power Seat System Verification Test
Test Step 6 - Driver Seat Switch Recline
• Backprobe and measure the voltage of the driver seat base recline MUX circuit while moving the driver seat recline switch forward and rearward.
• The voltage readings for all positions should be between 1.0 volt and 5.0 volts.
Is the voltage between 1.0 and 5.0 volts when the driver seat recline switch is moved to each position?
Yes
• Replace the memory seat module.
• Perform Power Seat System Verification Test. Refer to => Non - DTC Based Diagnostics. Power Seat System Verification Test
No
• Replace the driver seat switch.
• Perform Power Seat System Verification Test. Refer to => Non - DTC Based Diagnostics. Power Seat System Verification Test
