Seat Front Vertical Motor Control Circuit Performance

B1D7F - Seat Front Vertical Motor Control Circuit Performance

For a complete wiring diagram, refer to.

When Monitored: Whenever the seat motor is activated.

Set Condition: If the memory seat module does not detect the rotation of the seat motor this DTC will set.

Test Step 1 - Check For Related Diagnostic Trouble Codes

Turn the ignition ON.

With the scan tool, read DTCs.

Does the scan tool display any seat position sensor DTCs?

Yes

Diagnose and repair the other DTCs first. Refer to => Non - DTC Based Diagnostics.

No

Go to Test Step 2 => [ Test Step 2 - Test for Intermittent Condition ]

Test Step 2 - Test for Intermittent Condition

Turn the ignition ON.

With the scan tool, erase all DTCs.

Move the driver seat switch in the front vertical up and down position three times.

With the scan tool, read DTCs.

Does the scan tool display this DTC?

Yes

Go to Test Step 3 => [ Test Step 3 - Check the Driver Seat Front Vertical Position Sense
Circuit Voltage ]

No

The condition that caused this symptom is currently not present. Check for an intermittent condition by inspecting the related wiring harness for chafed, pierced, pinched, and partially broken wires. Also, inspect the related connectors for broken, bent, pushed out, spread, corroded, or contaminated terminals. Repair as necessary.

Perform Power Seat System Verification Test. Refer to => Non - DTC Based Diagnostics. Power Seat System Verification Test

Test Step 3 - Check the Driver Seat Front Vertical Position Sense Circuit Voltage

Turn the ignition OFF.

Disconnect the driver front vertical seat adjuster motor harness connector.

Turn the ignition ON.

Measure the voltage between the driver seat front vertical position sense circuit and the driver seat front vertical sensor ground circuit at the driver front vertical seat adjuster motor harness connector.

Is the voltage above 10.0 volts?

Yes

Go to Test Step 4 => [ Test Step 4 - Check the Driver Seat Front Vertical Up/Down Driver
Circuit Voltage ]

No

Go to Test Step 5 => [ Test Step 5 - Check the Driver Seat Front Vertical Position Sense
Circuit for an Open ]

Test Step 4 - Check the Driver Seat Front Vertical Up/Down Driver Circuit Voltage

Using a 12 volt test light connect one lead to the driver seat front vertical up driver circuit and the other lead to driver seat front vertical down driver circuit at the driver front vertical seat adjuster motor harness connector.

Move the driver seat switch in the front vertical up and down position.

Does the test light illuminate with the seat switch engaged in both positions?

Yes

Replace the track/front vertical motor assembly.

Perform Power Seat System Verification Test. Refer to => Non - DTC Based Diagnostics. Power Seat System Verification Test

No

Go to Test Step 7 => [ Test Step 7 - Check the Driver Seat Front Vertical Up Driver Circuit
for an Open ]

Test Step 5 - Check the Driver Seat Front Vertical Position Sense Circuit for an Open

Turn the ignition OFF.

Disconnect the memory seat module C3 harness connector.

Measure the resistance of the driver seat front vertical position sense circuit between the driver front vertical seat adjuster motor harness connector and the memory seat module C3 harness connector.

Is the resistance below 10.0 ohms?

Yes

Go to Test Step 6 => [ Test Step 6 - Check the Driver Seat Front Vertical Sensor Ground
Circuit for an Open ]

No

Repair the driver seat front vertical position sense circuit for an open.

Perform Power Seat System Verification Test. Refer to => Non - DTC Based Diagnostics. Power Seat System Verification Test

Test Step 6 - Check the Driver Seat Front Vertical Sensor Ground Circuit for an Open

Measure the resistance of the driver seat front vertical sensor ground circuit between the driver front vertical seat adjuster motor connector and the memory seat module C3 harness connector.

Is the resistance below 10.0 ohms?

Yes

Replace the memory seat module.

Perform Power Seat System Verification Test. Refer to => Non - DTC Based Diagnostics. Power Seat System Verification Test

No

Repair the driver seat front vertical sensor ground circuit for an open.

Perform Power Seat System Verification Test. Refer to => Non - DTC Based Diagnostics. Power Seat System Verification Test

Test Step 7 - Check the Driver Seat Front Vertical Up Driver Circuit for an Open

Disconnect the memory seat module C3 harness connector.

Measure the resistance of the driver seat front vertical up driver circuit between the driver front vertical seat adjuster motor harness connector to the memory seat module C3 harness connector.

Is the resistance below 10.0 ohms?

Yes

Go to Test Step 8 => [ Test Step 8 - Check the Driver Seat Front Vertical Down Driver Circuit
for an Open ]

No

Repair the driver seat front vertical up driver circuit for an open.

Perform Power Seat System Verification Test. Refer to => Non - DTC Based Diagnostics. Power Seat System Verification Test

Test Step 8 - Check the Driver Seat Front Vertical Down Driver Circuit for an Open

Measure the resistance of the driver seat front vertical down driver circuit between the driver front vertical seat adjuster motor harness connector and the memory seat module C3 harness connector.

Is the resistance below 10.0 ohms?

Yes

Replace the memory seat module.
