Liftgate Hinge






Liftgate Hinge

To protect the vehicle finish, apply several layers of masking tape on the top edges of the liftgate and around the liftgate opening prior to loosening the hinges.

Removing

- Using a grease pencil or equivalent, mark the position of each liftgate hinge (2) in relation to the liftgate (3) and the rear header panel (6).






- Remove the rear header trim panel.

- Apply several layers of duct tape on the outside of roof across the gap onto the liftgate to hold the liftgate in position.

- Support the liftgate with a suitable lifting device in the full open position.

- Remove the two bolts (1) that secure each liftgate hinge to the liftgate as necessary.

- Remove the two nuts (4 and 5) from underneath the rear header panel that secure each liftgate hinge to the header panel and carefully remove the hinges as necessary.

Installing

- If necessary, paint the replacement hinges.

- Position the hinge (2) to the marks on the rear header panel (6) and install the retaining nuts (4 and 5). Tighten the nuts to 33 Nm (24 ft lbs).






- Align the hinges to the marks on the liftgate (3) and install the bolts (1). Tighten the bolts to 33 Nm (24 ft lbs).

- Remove the lifting device and tape from the roof and liftgate.

- Install the rear header trim panel.

- Verify liftgate alignment. Refer to => [ Liftgate Gap Specifications ] Liftgate.
