Oil Pressure Relief Valve

Removing






- Remove the oil pan. Refer to => [ Oil Pan ] Service and Repair.

- Remove the cap retaining pin (4).

- Drill a 3.175 mm (1/8 inch.) hole into the relief valve cap (3).

- Insert a self threading sheet metal screw into the cap (3).

- Clamp the screw into a vise and while supporting the oil pump body, remove the cap (3) by tapping the oil pump body using a soft hammer. Discard the retainer cap (3).

- Remove the spring (2) and pressure relief valve (1).

Installing






- Lubricate the new pressure relief valve (1) with oil.


The pressure relief valve must be installed as shown or engine damage may occur.

- Install the valve (1), spring (2) and a new cap (3).

- Install a new pin (4).

- Install the oil pan. Refer to => [ Oil Pan ] Service and Repair.
