Radiator: Service and Repair

Radiator

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Refractometer (T10007)

• Drip Tray (V.A.G 1306)

• Torque Wrench (5-50 Nm) (V.A.G 1331)

• Spring Type Clip Pliers (VAS 5024)

Removing

- Drain the coolant. Refer to => [ Draining and Filling ] Draining and Filling.

- Disconnect the coolant hoses from the radiator.

- Remove the front bumper.

- Bring the lock carrier into the service position. Procedures

- Remove the fan shroud and fans. Refer to => [ Fan Shroud and Fans ] Service and Repair.

- Loosen the clips for the Air Conditioning (A/C) condenser and transmission oil cooler.





- Remove upper radiator bolts and remove the radiator upward.

Installing

Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal, noting the following:

- Fill the cooling system. Refer to => [ Draining and Filling ] Draining and Filling.

- Electrical connections and routings.

- Secure the lock carrier.

- Install the front bumper.

- Check the headlamp position and adjust if necessary.
