Front Seat Cushion, Cover and Upholstery

Removing and installing the components is described for the left seat. Removing and installing the components from the right seat is identical.

If ever the front seat cushion cover on the front passenger side is replaced, the passenger occupant detection system pressure sensor (G452) must also be replaced for USA and Canada vehicles. Refer to => [ Passenger Occupant Detection System ] Passenger Occupant Detection System

Removing

- Attach the fixture for seat repair (VAS 6136) to the engine/transmission holder (VAS 6095).

- Remove the front seat. Refer to => [ Front Seat ] Front Seat.

- Secure the seat on the fixture for seat repair (VAS 6136).

- Remove front belt latch. Refer to => [ Front Belt Latch ] Front Belt Latch.

- Remove the trim on the tunnel side. Refer to => [ Tunnel Side Trim ] Tunnel Side Trim.

- Remove the backrest adjustment wheel. Refer to => [ Backrest Adjusting Wheel ] Backrest Adjusting Wheel.

- Remove the seat height adjustment handle. Refer to => [ Seat Height Adjustment Handle ] Seat Height Adjustment Handle.

- Remove the trim on the door sill side. Refer to => [ Door Sill Side Trim ] Door Sill Side Trim.

- Remove the trim bracket on the door sill side. Refer to => [ Door Sill Side Trim Bracket ] Door Sill Side Trim Bracket.

- Remove the backrest. Refer to => [ Front Backrest ] Front Backrest.






- Loosen the retaining channel - 1 - from the seat frame - 2 -.

- Loosen the retaining channel - 4 - on all sides of the seat frame - 2 -.

- Loosen the wiring harnesses from the seat frame on vehicles with seat heating and passenger occupant detection system.

- Remove front seat cover and cushion - 6 - and the seat frame - 2 -.

- Remove the cover from the front seat cushion - 3 - in direction of - arrow -.






- Fold up the outside of the cover - 1 - off the front seat cushion - 2 - in - direction of arrow -.

- Remove the clips - 1 - from the cushion - area 4 -.

- Remove all the upholstery clips - 1 - in - area 3 -.

- Remove the cover - 1 - from front seat cushion - 2 -.

Vehicles with Passenger Occupant Detection System and Seat Heating (for USA and Canada Vehicles)






Do not disconnect the passenger occupant detection system pressure sensor (G452) - 1 - (for USA and Canada vehicles), the seat heating element - 2 - and the front seat cushion cover - 3 -.

If one of the mentioned components is faulty, then all the components must be replaced.

When installing the individual components, make sure the passenger occupant detection system pressure sensor (G452) - 1 - (USA and Canada vehicles only) is always installed above the seat-heating element - 2 -.

Installation

Vehicles with Seat Heating

The heating element must be positioned so that it has no bends.

The installation of the heating element follows the example for the front seat version "Basis".

- Guide the wiring harness through the rear oblong hole.






- Press the heating element in the rear trench - arrows -.

- Remove the protective film for the left and right positioning tape - 1 - and gently attach the heating element to the cushion without kinking it.

- Remove the protective film for the center left and center right positioning tape - 2 - and gently attach the heating element to the cushion without kinking it.

- Push the heat element into the front trench.

- Remove the protective film for the front left and front right positioning tape - 3 - and gently attach the heating element to the cushion without kinking it.

Vehicles with Passenger Occupant Detection System (for USA and Canada Vehicles)

Install the passenger occupant detection system pressure sensor (G452)

Procedure for All Vehicles






- Install the cushion - 5 - on the seat frame.

- Attach the cover - 1 - to the cushion - 5 - with the clips - 4 -.

- Attach the cover - 1 - to the cushion - 4 - with new upholstery clips - 2 - at the shown locations - 3 - using the upholstery clip pliers (V.A.G 1634).

Further assembling is in reverse order of removal.
