Catalytic Converter: Description and Operation
Exhaust Temperature Control Overview
The exhaust gas temperature sensor threads are coated. Do NOT lubricate with hot bolt paste and make sure to tighten them to the specification given below. Otherwise the fitting could come loose and accidents could occur as a result.
1 Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor 3 (G495)
• 45 Nm
• Orange connector.
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor 3 G495 ] Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor 3 G495.
• Secure the sensor wire.
• Do not lubricate.
2 Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor 2 (G448)
• 45 Nm
• Brown connector.
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor 2 G448 ] Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor 2 G448.
• Secure the sensor wire.
• Do not lubricate.
3 Heated Oxygen Sensor (G39) with Oxygen Sensor Heater (Z19)
• 50 Nm
• Black connector.
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Heated Oxygen Sensor G39 with Oxygen Sensor Heater Z19 ] Heated Oxygen Sensor G39 with Oxygen Sensor Heater Z19.
4 Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor 4 (G648)
• 45 Nm
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor 4 G648 ] Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor 4 G648.
• Secure the sensor wire.
• Do not lubricate.
5 Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor 1 (G235)
• 45 Nm
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor 1 G235 ] Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor 1 G235.
• Coat with hot bolt paste, for the hot bolt paste, refer to the Parts Catalog.
6 Turbocharger
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Turbocharger ] Turbocharger.

9 Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Pipe
