Oil Pressure Sender: Testing and Inspection






Oil Pressure Switch, Checking

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Oil Pressure Gauge (V.A.G 1342)

Voltage Tester (V.A.G 1527 B)

Connector Test Set (V.A.G 1594 C)

Procedure

The oil level is OK

The engine oil temperature is approximately 80 °C (176 °F)

- Remove the oil pressure switch. Refer to => [ Oil Pressure Switch F1 ] Service and Repair.

- Connect the oil pressure gauge (V.A.G 1342) into the opening for the oil pressure switch.






- Install the oil pressure switch - 2 - in the oil pressure gauge.

- Connect the brown wire - 1 - on the oil pressure gauge to ground (-).

- Connect the voltage tester (V.A.G 1527 B) using an adapter cable from the connector test set (V.A.G 1594 C) to the oil pressure switch and battery positive (+).

The Light Emitting Diode (LED) must not light up.

If the LED lights up, replace the oil pressure switch, refer to => [ Oil Pressure Switch F1 ] Service and Repair.

- Start the engine.

While starting the engine, watch the oil pressure gauge and LED as the oil pressure switch may open during start.

The LED must illuminate at 0.3 to 0.6 bar.

- Replace the oil pressure switch if the LED does not come on. Refer to => [ Oil Pressure Switch F1 ] Service and Repair.
