Exhaust Pressure Sensor: Service and Repair
Exhaust Pressure Sensor 1 G450
• The exhaust pressure sensor 1 determines the particulate filter load condition. It is connected between the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) pipe and the particulate filter.
Component location, refer to => [ Front Exhaust Pipe with Particulate Filter Overview ] Front Exhaust Pipe with Particulate Filter Overview.
Removing
- Remove the engine cover. Refer to => [ Engine Cover ] Engine Cover.
- Remove the nuts - arrows - and then remove the heat shield - 1 - from the diesel particulate filter.
- Remove the bolts - arrows -.
- Release and disconnect the connector - 3 -.
- Unclip the exhaust pressure sensor 1 - 1 - from the bracket - 2 -.
- Remove the bracket - 2 -.
- Loosen the clamps and remove the wires - 4 - from the exhaust pressure sensor 1 - 1 -.
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal. When doing this note the following:
• Before installing the control lines leading from exhaust pressure sensor 1 to the particulate filter, clean them with compressed air to make sure they are not plugged or iced over by condensation.
• Check for secure fit and leaks.
• In case the particulate filter pressure lines were loosened, tighten the pressure lines, refer to => [ Front Exhaust Pipe with Particulate Filter Overview ] Front Exhaust Pipe with Particulate Filter Overview.
Perform an adaptation after replacing the exhaust pressure sensor 1 and/or the particulate filter. The procedures are also described in Guided Fault Finding.
