Engine Lubrication: Service and Repair






Oil Pan, Oil Pump and Oil Cooler Overview

If large quantities of metal particles or abraded material are detected during engine repairs, it may mean the crankshaft bearings or rod bearings are damaged. To prevent subsequent damage, the following work must be performed after the repair: Oil passages must be cleaned carefully; replace the oil spray jets, the engine oil cooler and the oil filter.

1 Nut

9 Nm

2 Oil Level Thermal Sensor (G266)

Removing and installing, refer to => [ Oil Level Thermal Sensor G266 ] Service and Repair.

3 Seal

Always replace.

4 Lower Oil Pan

Removing and installing, refer to => [ Lower Oil Pan ] Lower Oil Pan.

5 Bolt

3 Nm + an additional 90° (1/4) turn.

Always replace.

6 Lower Oil Baffle

7 Bolt

Always replace.

Tightening specification and sequence, refer to => [ Upper Oil Pan Bolt Tightening Sequence and Specification ].

8 Upper Oil Pan

Removing and installing, refer to => [ Upper Oil Pan ] Upper Oil Pan.

9 Alignment Bushing

Quantity: 2

10 O-ring

Inserted into the guide frame.

Always replace.

11 Bolt

9 Nm

Install using locking fluid. For the correct locking fluid, refer to the Parts Catalog.

12 Upper Oil Baffle

13 Gasket

Inserted into the guide frame.

Always replace.

14 Gasket

Always replace.

15 Bolt

3 Nm + an additional 90° (1/4) turn.

Always replace.

16 Engine Oil Cooler

With the oil cooler bypass valve.

17 Bolt

9 Nm

18 Oil Pump Driveshaft

19 Pressure Spring

20 Sleeve

Quantity: 2

21 Bracket

22 Bolt

9 Nm

23 Oil Pump Sprocket

Can only be placed onto the driveshaft in one position.

24 Bolt

30 Nm + an additional 90° (1/4) turn.

Always replace.

For loosening and tightening, counter hold the sprocket with the spanner wrench (3212).

25 O-ring

Always replace.

26 Gasket

Always replace.

27 O-ring

Always replace.

28 Oil Pump

Do not disassemble.

Removing and installing, refer to => [ Oil Pump ] Oil Pump.

29 Bolt

20 Nm

30 Bolt

Always replace.

Tightening specification and sequence, refer to => [ Lower Oil Pan Bolt Tightening Sequence and Specification ].

31 Seal

Always replace.

32 Oil Drain Plug

Replace the bolts which have been tightened to an additional torque angle.
