Mechatronic
• Always replace the mechatronic unit if it is dirty or faulty.
• General repair notes. Refer to => [ General Repair Information ] General Repair Information.

Removing
CAUTION!
Observe procedures for disconnecting battery.
- With the ignition switched off, disconnect the battery Ground (GND) cable.
- Remove oil pan. Refer to => [ Oil Pan ] 09LA Transmission.
- Remove oil screen. Refer to => [ Oil Strainer ] 09LA Transmission.
- Disconnect 16-pin connector - 2 - on the transmission by moving the securing lever and turning the rotating screw counter-clockwise.
• Disregard - 1 -.
- Touch vehicle ground with hand (without gloves) to discharge static.
CAUTION!
• Always discharge static by touching a grounded object, e.g. vehicle ground, before touching or removing the mechatronic unit.
• Connector terminals in the 16-pin connector must not be touched by hand under any circumstances because control module and therefore Mechatronic may be destroyed by static discharge.
- Remove wiring harness connector securing clamp - arrow - on outside of transmission housing.
- Remove Mechatronic bolts in - 11 to 1 - sequence.
• Only bolts marked with - 1 to 11 - may be loosened.
• If other bolts are loosened, this may affect the function of the mechatronic unit or it may come apart.
- Remove mechatronics unit together with wiring harness from transmission, at the same time guiding out connector for wiring harness.
Installing
- Make sure that the seal - B - is properly installed and secured.
- Replace O-rings on wiring harness connector and lightly lubricate with ATF.
- Clip wiring harness - A - onto the mechatronics unit - B -. At the same time, insert the tab - arrow - on backside of wiring harness into the mechatronics unit.
• If the tab on the backside of the wiring harness breaks off, the wiring harness must be replaced. Refer to => [ Wiring Harness in Transmission ] Service and Repair.
- Insert wiring harness connector into transmission housing.
• Installation position: Flat part of rear collar faces downward; tabs on collar are horizontal.
- Set mechatronics unit in place without using force, and at the same time insert stud of selector lever - arrow - into groove of selector slide - A -; if necessary, move selector slide back or forth.
- Tighten bolts - 1 - and - 2 - for mechatronic unit to 2 Nm.
- Then tighten bolts to 8 Nm in specified sequence - 1 to 11 -.
- Connect securing clamp - arrow - on wiring harness connector.
- Install oil strainer. Refer to => [ Oil Strainer ] 09LA Transmission.
- Install oil pan. Refer to => [ Oil Pan ] 09LA Transmission.
- Observe procedures for connecting battery.
- Fill with ATF. Refer to => [ ATF, Draining or Filling after Repair ] ATF, Draining or Filling After Repair.
