Air Supply Unit






Air Supply Unit

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Torque wrench (V.A.G 1331)

Torque wrench (V.A.G 1783)

Insert tool 10 (V.A.G 1783/1)

Removing

The air supply unit is installed under the right front wheel housing liner.

- Place the vehicle on a hoist. Refer to => [ Positioning Vehicle on Hoist and Wheels ] Positioning Vehicle on Hoist and Wheels.

- Perform system vent using (VAS 5051 A). Refer to => [ System, Venting or Filling ] System, Venting or Filling.

- Remove wheel trim cap, remove cover cap on light-alloy wheels (removal hook in vehicle tool kit).

- Remove the wheel.

- Remove noise insulation.

- Remove the front wheel housing liner.

- Unclip and disconnect the connectors - 1 - and - 2 -.






- Slowly loosen air line - 1 - from the air supply unit and allow air pressure to escape. After the air pressure has escaped, remove the air lines.






- Disconnect the connectors - 2 -.

- Open the clamping sleeve - 1 - and remove the intake hose - 2 - from the connecting piece - 3 -.






- Loosen the cable ties.

- Remove the nuts - 1 -,- 2 - and - 3 - and remove the air supply unit.






Note correct locations when removing mounting sleeves.

Installing

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

- The sleeve - B - without the collar - arrow - in installed on the outside of the vehicle - 2 -.






Tightening specifications, refer to => [ Air Supply Unit and Solenoid Valve Block Assembly Overview ] Air Supply Unit and Solenoid Valve Block Assembly Overview

- Install the front right wheel housing liner.

- Install the front noise insulation.

- Install wheel.

- Place vehicle on wheels. Refer to => [ Positioning Vehicle on Hoist and Wheels ] Positioning Vehicle on Hoist and Wheels.

- Tighten wheel.

If the air supply unit was replaced, then the level control system compressor relay (J403) must also be replaced.
