Selector Lever Handle
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Trim Removal Wedge (3409)
• Hose Clamp Pliers (V.A.G 1275)
Removing
- Press the button the parking brake to lock the electro-mechanical brake.
- Place selector lever in position "N".
• The selector lever handle is removed together with the selector lever boot.
- Carefully pry out the selector lever boot on the side using the Trim Removal Wedge (3409) - arrows - and fold it upward.
- Secure locking button in extended position with a cable tie - arrow - as shown in the illustration.
- Fold the selector lever boot - B - upward and over the selector lever handle - C -.
- Open the clamp - A - and remove the selector lever handle with the selector lever boot without touching the locking button.
Installing
• To install selector lever handle, lock button must be pulled out as far as stop and secured with a cable tie - arrow - or using the assembly aid included with new handle.
• If the lock button was not secured, do not pull it out from the handle using mechanical aids. Apply compressed air gun to bottom of handle and press lock button out with compressed air.
- Place a new clamp - arrow - on the selector lever handle.
- Carefully install the selector lever handle completely on the selector lever. The lock button faces toward the driver.
• When doing this, handle must engage into ring groove of the selector lever.
- Remove cable ties or assembly tools. The locking button mechanism will engage in the vertical groove on the selector lever. If necessary, press the locking button into the selector lever handle.
- For checking function, shift button mechanism to "R" and "S".
• If the selector lever positions cannot be reached, remove the handle again. Refer to => [ Selector Lever Handle ] Selector Lever Handle.
- Secure the selector lever handle - C - on the lever using the clamp - A - using Hose Clamp Pliers (V.A.G 1275).
- Clip the selector lever boot retaining frame - B - into the center console.
