Modular Wire Routing with Ridged Tube on Front Seat
• The wires between the seat pan and the connector station are inside a double-shell corrugated tube in the modulate wiring routing.
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Trim removal wedge (3409)
Opening Corrugated Pipe and Removing Individual Wire
Follow all safety precautions when working on pyrotechnic components. Refer to => [ Safety Precautions ] Service Precautions.
- Turn on the ignition.
- Disconnect the battery ground (GND) cable from the battery.
- Remove the front seat:
• Standard seat and Sport seat (manual), refer to => [ Manual Standard Front Seat ] Manual Standard Front Seat.
• Standard seat, Sport seat (power) and Comfort seat, refer to => [ Power Standard Front Seat ] Power Standard Front Seat.
• Super Sport seat, refer to => [ Super Sport Front Seat ] Super Sport Front Seat.
- Attach the front seat to the fixture for seat repair (VAS 6136) => [ Front Seat, Installing on the ] Front Seat, Installing on the Fixture For Seat Repair (VAS 6136).
- Open the wiring bracket - 1 - using the trim removal wedge (3409).
- Remove the wiring bracket - 1 - from the corrugated tube - 2 -.
- Free up the corrugated tube - 2 - on the seat frame and open it.
• Replacing a faulty wire or opening the corrugated tube for the side airbag, refer to => [ Side Airbag Igniters (N199)/(N200) ] Side Airbag Igniters (N199)/(N200).
Install Individual Wires And Close Corrugated Pipe
Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:
• Follow all safety precautions when working on pyrotechnic components. Refer to => [ Safety Precautions ] Service Precautions.
• Before handling pyrotechnical components (for example, connecting electrical connector), the person handling them must "discharge static electricity". For example, by briefly touching the door striker pin.
- When bundling and placing individual wires in the corrugated tube, make sure the wires are not twisted.
• Note the installation position of the two-part corrugated tube to the wiring harness and the position of the wiring bracket to the corrugated tube.
- The beginning of the corrugated tube - 4 - should be placed immediately after the clip - 2 - or cable tie.

- Make sure the two-part corrugated tube - 4 - locks cleanly over entire length.
- After connecting both halves of the corrugated tube, position the wiring bracket - 1 - and clip it into place according to the illustration.
- Make sure the side - arrow A - of the wiring bracket - 1 - connects to the last rib - arrow B - on the corrugated tube - 4 -.
- Install the cable ties, wiring bracket and clips in the same positions as before removal.
• Make sure the connectors are installed all the way in and are secure.
Connect the battery with the ignition switched on. Pyrotechnic components could deploy after connecting the battery if they were not repaired correctly. Individuals must not be inside the vehicle when connecting the battery.
- Connect the battery ground (GND) cable with the ignition turned on.
• If the airbag indicator lamp (K75) indicates a fault after installation, the DTC memory must be checked, deleted and checked again using the vehicle diagnostic tester.
