Fuel Delivery Unit and Fuel Level Sensor Overview
1 Fuel Level Sensor (G)
• Check the resistance values, refer to => [ Fuel Level Sensor (G), Checking ] Fuel Level Sensor (G), Checking
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Fuel Level Sensor (G) ] Fuel Level Sensor (G)
2 Locking Flange
• With fuel filter
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Fuel Delivery Unit ] Fuel Delivery Unit
3 Seal
• Replace
• Install dry
4 Locking Ring
• 110 Nm
• Loosen and tighten using the wrench (T10202).
5 Connector
• For fuel level sensor and fuel level sensor 2 (G169)
6 Connector
• For transfer Fuel Pump (FP) (G6)
7 Connector
• For the fuel pump control module (J538)
8 Fuel Pump (FP) Control Module (J538)
• Checking in Guided Functions see vehicle diagnostic tester
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Fuel Pump Control Module (J538) ] Fuel Pump Control Module (J538)
• Installed position, refer to => [ Installed Position ]
9 Bolt
• 1.6 Nm
10 Fuel Line
• For rest-of-the-world vehicles with an auxiliary heater
11 Fuel Line
• To the engine
• Do not kink
• To remove from locking flange, press release buttons
• Clipped to the fuel tank
12 Locking Ring
• 110 Nm
• Loosen and tighten using the wrench (T10202).
13 Locking Flange
14 Seal
• Replace
• Install dry
15 Bracket
• For fuel level sensor 2
16 Fuel Level Sensor 2 (G169)
• Check the resistance values, refer to => [ Fuel Level Sensor 2 (G169), Checking ] Fuel Level Sensor 2 (G169), Checking
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Fuel Level Sensor 2 (G169) ] Fuel Level Sensor 2 (G169)
17 Electrical Wire
• For fuel level sensor 2
• Inside the fuel tank
• Disconnect both lines and connectors as close as possible at the last attachment to replace the electric wire. Route the new line parallel to the old one. The old line remains inside the fuel tank.
18 Mount
• Welded to the fuel tank
19 Fuel Delivery Unit
• With transfer FP
• Check the electric fuel pump using Guided Fault Finding see vehicle diagnostic tester
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Fuel Delivery Unit ] Fuel Delivery Unit
• Fill the fuel tank with at least 5 liters of fuel after installing
Locking Flange Cover - Tightening Specifications
- Tighten the cover bolts - arrows - to 1.5 Nm.
FP Control Module (J538) Installed Position
• The FP control module - arrow - is on the right side between the floor panel and the fuel tank.
• The floor panel is shown cut open in the illustration.
