Rear Cigarette Lighter (U9), Optional

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Release Tool (T40148)

Removing






- Remove the rear center console cover.

- The release tabs - 2 - on the release tool (T40148) must engage in the openings in the cigarette light - 3 - - arrow - and the threaded pin - 1 - must slide down as far as the stop.

- Open the cover - 3 - for the cigarette lighter/115-V-connector.






- Release the tab - 5 - and free up the connector - 4 - on the mount.

- Remove the cigarette lighter - 6 -.

- Slide the (T40148) into the cigarette lighter - 1 - as far as the stop.

- Rotate the thumbwheel - 2 - on the (T40148) clockwise as far as the stop.

• The piston - 2 - is pulled upward and the release tabs - 1 - on the (T40148) spread - arrows -.






- Remove the cigarette lighter from the lighting ring with bulb using the (T40148).

- Remove the bolts - arrows -.






- Lay the converter with socket, 12 V-115 V (U27) - 1 - to the side.

- Remove the mount - 1 - from the rear cover - 2 - and then remove - arrow B - it from the pivot bearing - arrow A -.






- Free up the wiring harness - 4 - from the mount - 3 -.

- Open the clips - arrows -.






- Remove the cigarette lighter and illumination ring - 1 - from the mount - 2 -.

- Guide the wire through the mount.

Installing






Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

Risk of injury.

• After removing the (T40148) , check to see if the lighter retaining tabs are bent.

• If the retaining tabs are bend, bend them back so the lighter does not slide out.

- Remove the support - 1 - on the (T40148).

- Slide the piston down and hold it in place.

- Rotate the thumbwheel - 4 - on the (T40148) counterclockwise - arrow -. This loosens the release tabs - 2 - on the cigarette lighter - item 3 - so the (T40148) can be removed.

- Install the mount for the cigarette lighter and the socket.

- Install the converter with socket, 12 V-115 V (U27) => [ Converter With Socket, 12 V-115 V (U27) ] Converter With Socket, 12 V-115 V (U27).

- Install the rear center console cover.
