Rear Compartment Lid Latch Replacement

Tools Required

J 38778 Door Trim Pad and Garnish Clip Remover

Removal Procedure

1. Open the rear compartment.




2. Remove the release actuator. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Lock Actuator Replacement (Service and Repair).
3. Remove the push-in retainers from latch using J 38778 .
4. Use a grease pencil in order to make alignment marks to the rear compartment lid for location at installation.
5. Remove the nuts from the rear compartment latch studs.




6. Remove the rear compartment latch from the rear compartment lid.

Installation Procedure




1. Align the rear compartment latch to the alignment marks on the rear compartment lid.
Install the push-in retainers to the latch.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

2. Install the nuts to the rear compartment lock cylinder release actuator studs.

Tighten the rear compartment lock cylinder release actuator nuts to 10 Nm (89 lb in).




3. Install the release actuator. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Lock Actuator Replacement (Service and Repair).
4. Close the rear compartment.
