DTC C0899
Diagnostic Instructions
* Perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle (Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview) prior to using this diagnostic procedure.

DTC Descriptor
DTC C0899
- Device Voltage Low
Diagnostic Fault Information
Circuit/System Description
The electronic brake control module (EBCM) monitors the system voltage level available for ABS operation. A low voltage condition prevents the ABS system from operating properly.
Conditions for Running the DTC
Ignition is ON.
Conditions for Setting the DTC
This fault will be set if the system voltage to EBCM is less than 9 volts for 100 msec.
Action Taken When the DTC Sets
* Antilock Brake System (ABS) and Traction Control System (TCS) are disabled for the duration of the ignition cycle.
* The ABS and TCS indicators illuminates on the IPC.
* The DIC displays the Service Stability System message, if equipped.
Conditions for Clearing the DTC
* The condition for the DTC is no longer present.
* The EBCM automatically clears the history DTC when a current DTC is not detected in 100 consecutive drive cycles.
Diagnostic Aids
A low voltage DTC in multiple modules indicates a concern in the charging system.

Circuit/System Verification
1. Verify DTC C0899 is set as current.
2. Engine running measure and record the voltage at the battery terminals.
3. Verify that the battery voltage is 12.6-15.5 volts.
• --> If the battery voltage is not within the specified range, Refer to Charging System Test (Charging System Test)
4. Observe the scan tool EBCM battery positive voltage parameter.
5. The battery terminal and EBCM parameter should not differ by more than 2 volts.
Circuit/System Testing
1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the EBCM.
2. Ignition OFF, test for less than 3.0 ohms of resistance between the ground circuit terminals 16 and 45 to ground.
• If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuits for an open/high resistance.
3. Ignition ON, verify a test lamp illuminates between the Battery Positive Voltage circuit terminals 2 and 31 and ground.
• If the test lamp did not illuminate, test the Battery Positive Voltage circuits for a short to ground or an open/high resistance.
4. If the circuits test normal, replace the EBCM.
Repair Instructions
Perform the Diagnostic Repair Verification (Verification Tests) after completing the diagnostic procedure.
