Throttle Body Assembly Replacement

Removal Procedure





Caution: Handle the electronic throttle control components carefully. Use cleanliness in order to prevent damage. Do not drop the electronic throttle control components. Do not roughly handle the electronic throttle control components. Do not immerse the electronic throttle control components in cleaning solvents of any type.

1. Remove the fuel injector sight shield. Refer to Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement (Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement).
2. Remove the air cleaner outlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement (Service and Repair).
3. Disconnect the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) fresh air tube quick connect fittings at the camshaft cover and the air cleaner outlet duct. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service (Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service).
4. Remove the PCV fresh air tube.




5. Disconnect the engine harness electrical connector (5) from the throttle actuator.




6. Remove the transaxle vent hose clip (1) from the shift cable bracket.




7. Remove the transaxle shift cable clip from the shift cable bracket.




8. Remove the throttle body bolts.
9. Remove the shift cable bracket.
10. Remove the throttle body.
11. Remove and discard the throttle body seal.

Installation Procedure




1. Install a NEW throttle body seal.
2. Position the throttle body.
3. Position the shift cable bracket.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

4. Install the throttle body bolts.

Tighten the bolts to 10 Nm (89 lb in).




5. Install the transaxle shift cable clip to the shift cable bracket.




6. Install the transaxle vent hose clip (1) to the shift cable bracket.




7. Connect the engine harness electrical connector (5) to the throttle actuator.





Note: Route the PCV fresh air tube under the vacuum brake booster hose and the evaporative emission (EVAP) purge valve.

8. Install the PCV fresh air tube.
9. Connect the PCV fresh air tube quick connect fittings at the camshaft cover and the air cleaner outlet duct. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service (Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service).
10. Install the air cleaner outlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement (Service and Repair).
11. Install the fuel injector sight shield. Refer to Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement (Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement).
12. Perform the Throttle Learn procedure. Refer to Throttle/Idle Learn (Testing and Inspection).
