DTC B1474
Diagnostic Instructions
* Perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle (Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle) prior to using this diagnostic procedure.

DTC Descriptor
DTC B1474 02
- Exterior Passenger Door Handle Switch Circuit Short to Ground
Diagnostic Fault Information
Circuit/System Description
The passenger door handle switch signal circuit provides inputs to the remote control door lock receiver (RCDLR) and the passenger door module (PDM) when the passenger door handle switch is activated. This input allows the PDM and RCDLR to detect a door open request. The PDM and RCDLR provide voltage to the passenger door handle switch via the right front door handle switch signal circuit. When the right front door handle is activated, the switch closes and the voltage signals from the PDM and RCDLR are pulled to ground.
Conditions for Running the DTC
The system voltage is 9-16 volts.
Conditions for Setting the DTC
The RCDLR detects the passenger door handle switch signal circuit is shorted to ground or closed for greater than 180 seconds.
Action Taken When the DTC Sets
The passenger door may not open with the passenger door handle.
Conditions for Clearing the DTC
* The DTC will be current for as long as the fault is present.
* When the fault is no longer present, the DTC will be a history DTC.
* A history DTC will clear after 50 ignition cycles.

Circuit/System Verification
Ignition ON, observe the scan tool Ext. Psgr. Door Handle Switch parameter while using the passenger door handle. The parameter should change between Active and Inactive.
Circuit/System Testing
1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the X2 harness connector at the PDM.
2. Disconnect the harness connector at the passenger door handle.
3. Ignition ON, verify the scan tool Ext. Psgr. Door Handle Switch parameter is Inactive.
• If not the specified value, test the signal circuit terminal 5 for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the RCDLR.
4. Ignition OFF, connect the X2 harness connector at the PDM.
5. Ignition ON, verify the scan tool Ext. Psgr. Door Handle Switch parameter is Inactive.
• If not the specified value, replace the PDM.
6. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the passenger door handle.
Component Testing
1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the passenger door handle.
2. Test for infinite resistance between the signal terminal E and the ground terminal F with the switch in the open position.
• If not the specified value, replace the passenger door handle.
3. Test for less than 2 ohms between the signal terminal E and the ground terminal F with the switch in the closed position.
4. If greater than the specified range, replace the passenger door handle.
Repair Instructions
Perform the Diagnostic Repair Verification (Verification Tests) after completing the diagnostic procedure.
