Oil Pan: Service and Repair
Oil Pan Replacement
Removal Procedure
1. Drain the engine oil. Refer to Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement Service and Repair.
2. Remove the oil level indicator tube. Refer to Oil Level Indicator Tube Replacement Service and Repair
3. Remove the front wheelhouse liner Inner front extension. Refer to Front Wheelhouse Liner Inner Front Extension Replacement
4. Remove the exhaust flexible pipe. Refer to Exhaust Front Pipe Replacement (LUV,LUW) Service and Repair
5. Remove the oil pan bolts (1) from the transmission.
Note:
Remove the oil pan evenly all the way around with a suitable tool.
6. Remove the oil pan bolts (1) and remove the oil pan (2).
7. To prevent damage to the oil screen, ensure that the oil screen (2) remains in the oil pan (3). If the oil screen gets caught on the cylinder block (1), push it into the oil pan.
8. Remove the oil pan.
Installation Procedure
1. Clean the sealing surfaces.
2. Apply an approximately 3.5 mm (0.14 in) thick bead of oil pan sealant to the joints (arrows).
Note:
The assembly time including torque check must take no longer than 10 minutes.
3. Apply an approximately 3.5 mm (0.14 in) thick bead of oil pan sealant (1) as illustrated.
Caution:
Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution
4. Install the oil pan bolts (1) to the oil pan (2) and tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb in).
5. Install the oil pan bolts (1) and (2) to the transmission and tighten to 40 Nm (30 lb ft).
6. Install the exhaust flexible pipe. Refer to Exhaust Front Pipe Replacement (LUV,LUW) Service and Repair
7. Install the front wheelhouse liner Inner front extension. Refer to Front Wheelhouse Liner Inner Front Extension Replacement .
8. Install the oil level indicator tube. Refer to Oil Level Indicator Tube Replacement Service and Repair
9. Refill the engine oil. Refer to Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement Service and Repair.
