Engine Timing Cover(s) - Removal
REMOVAL
1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
2. Drain the cooling system Service and Repair
3. Raise and secure the vehicle on hoist Maintenance.
4. Drain the engine oil Service and Repair.
5. Remove the right front tire and wheel assembly Tires and Wheels - Removal.
6. Remove the right front inner splash shield (3).
7. Remove the oil pan Engine Oil Pan - Removal
8. Remove the oil pick-up tube (2).
9. Remove the accessory drive belt (1) Serpentine Accessory Drive Belt - Removal.
10. Remove the one bolt (2), three nuts (5 and 6) and reposition the A/C compressor (7).
11. Remove the crankshaft vibration damper Vibration Damper - Removal
12. Remove the heater return hose from the timing chain cover housing or water pump inlet tube (if equipped with an engine oil cooler).
13. Remove the lower radiator hose (2).
14. Remove the camshaft position sensor from the timing chain cover Camshaft Position Sensor - Removal.
15. Remove the right side engine mount (1) Engine Mount Insulator - Removal
16. Remove the bolt (1) from the power steering line support bracket (2).
17. Remove two bolts (3), nut (4) and bracket (5).
18. Remove the bolt (1), nut (2) and bracket (3).
19. Remove mounting bolts (2 and 3) and reposition the generator (1).
20. Remove three mounting bolts (1) through pump pulley and reposition power steering pump (2).
21. Remove the bolt (1) and the accessory drive belt tensioner (2).
22. Remove the bolt (2) and the accessory drive belt idler pulley (1).
23. Remove the water pump (1) for timing cover removal clearance Water Pump - Removal
24. Remove the timing chain cover fasteners and remove timing chain cover (2).
