Crankshaft Front Seal
Removal
1. Remove the crankshaft pulley. For additional information, refer to Crankshaft Pulley Service and Repair.
2. Punch 2 holes in the seal.
3. Using the Oil Seal Remover, remove and discard the crankshaft seal.
4. NOTE: Production seals will not have a wear sleeve. If a service part has been installed, it will have a wear sleeve.
If equipped, using the Crankshaft Front Wear Ring Remover, remove and discard the crankshaft pulley wear sleeve.
Installation
1. Thoroughly clean the crankshaft front seal mounting surface.
2. Apply threadlock to the outer circumference of the leading edge of the crankshaft.
3. NOTE: New seal and wear sleeve must not be separated.
Using the Crankshaft Front Seal and Wear Ring Installer, install the new oil seal and wear sleeve assembly.
4. Install the crankshaft pulley. For additional information, refer to Crankshaft Pulley Service and Repair.
