TRANSFER ASSEMBLY
Removal and Installation
NOTE:
When removing components such as hoses, tubes/lines, etc., cap or plug openings to prevent fluid from spilling.
REMOVAL
1.Drain the transfer oil. Refer to "Draining" Draining.
2.Remove rear propeller shaft. Refer to "Removal and Installation" Removal and Installation.
3.Remove front drive shaft (RH). Refer to "Removal and Installation (Right Side)" Removal and Installation Left Side.
CAUTION:
Be careful not to damage gear ring oil seal inside of transfer.
4.Remove exhaust manifold (RH). Refer to "Removal and Installation (RH)" Removal and Installation (RH).
CAUTION:
Handle carefully to avoid any shock to three way catalyst.
5.Support transaxle with a suitable jack.
6.Remove the steering gear. Refer to "Removal and Installation AWD" Removal and Installation.
7.Remove rear gusset and transfer gusset.
8.Remove transaxle assembly to transfer assembly bolts.
CAUTION:
Revision: March 20122013 Infiniti JX
Be careful not to damage gear ring oil seal inside of CVT.
9.Remove transfer assembly from the vehicle.
CAUTION:
- Do not damage air breather hose.
- After removing transfer from transaxle, always replace differential side oil seal of the transaxle side with new one. Refer to "Removal and Installation" Removal and Installation.
INSTALLATION
Installation is in the reverse order of removal.
- When installing the transfer to the transaxle, install the bolts following the standard below.
CAUTION:
- When installing transfer to transaxle, be careful not to damage oil seal of transaxle.
- Do not reuse differential side oil seal.
- Check oil level and check for oil leaks after installation. Refer to
"Refilling" Refilling.
