Open in CAN Main Bus Line
CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM: Open in CAN Main Bus Line
Open in CAN Main Bus Line
DESCRIPTION
There may be an open circuit in the CAN bus main line and/or the DLC3 sub bus line when the resistance between terminals 6 (CANH) and 14 (CANL) of the DLC3 is 69 Ohms or higher.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
PROCEDURE
1. CHECK DLC3
(a) Turn the ignition switch off.
(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Result:
NOTE: When the measured value is 132 Ohms or higher and the CAN communication system diagnostic code is output, there may be a fault besides an open in the DLC3 sub bus line. For that reason, troubleshooting should be performed again from "HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING" How to Proceed With Troubleshooting after repairing the trouble area.
B -- REPLACE DLC3 BRANCH WIRE OR CONNECTOR
A -- Continue to next step.
2. CHECK CAN MAIN BUS LINE FOR DISCONNECTION (BUS CHECK)
(a) Perform "CAN Bus Check" using the Techstream via CAN VIM Diagnosis System.
Result:
C -- CHECK CAN MAIN BUS LINE FOR DISCONNECTION
B -- CHECK CAN MAIN BUS LINE FOR DISCONNECTION (HV CONTROL ECU - CAN RH J/C)
A -- Continue to next step.
3. CHECK CAN MAIN BUS LINE FOR DISCONNECTION (STEERING SENSOR - CAN CENTER J/C)
(a) Disconnect the steering sensor connector (S10).
(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE CAN MAIN BUS LINE OR CONNECTOR
OK -- REPLACE STEERING SENSOR
4. CHECK CAN MAIN BUS LINE FOR DISCONNECTION (HV CONTROL ECU - CAN RH J/C)
(a) Disconnect the HV control ECU connector (H30).
(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE CAN MAIN BUS LINE OR CONNECTOR
OK -- REPLACE HV CONTROL ECU
5. CHECK CAN MAIN BUS LINE FOR DISCONNECTION
(a) Disconnect the steering sensor connector (S10).

Standard resistance:
OK -- REPLACE STEERING SENSOR
NG -- Continue to next step.
6. CONNECT CONNECTOR
(a) Reconnect the steering sensor connector (S10).
NEXT -- Continue to next step.
7. CHECK CAN MAIN BUS LINE FOR DISCONNECTION
(a) Disconnect the steering sensor main bus line connector (J55) from the CAN center J/C B side (without earth terminal).
- Before disconnecting the connector, make a note of where it is connected.
- Reconnect the connector to its original position.
(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE CAN MAIN BUS LINE OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.
8. CONNECT CONNECTOR
(a) Reconnect the steering sensor main bus line connector (J55) to the CAN center J/C B side (without earth terminal).
NEXT -- Continue to next step.
9. CHECK CAN MAIN BUS LINE FOR DISCONNECTION
(a) Disconnect the CAN main bus line connector (J52) from the CAN center J/C A side (with earth terminal).
(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance:
OK -- REPLACE JUNCTION CONNECTOR
NG -- Continue to next step.
10. CONNECT CONNECTOR
(a) Reconnect the CAN main bus line connector (J52) to the CAN center J/C A side (with earth terminal).
NEXT -- Continue to next step.
11. CHECK CAN MAIN BUS LINE FOR DISCONNECTION
(a) Disconnect the CAN main bus line connector (J27) from the CAN RH J/C B side (without earth terminal).

(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE CAN MAIN BUS LINE OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.
12. CONNECT CONNECTOR
(a) Reconnect the CAN main bus line connector (J27) to the CAN RH J/C B side (without earth terminal).
NEXT -- Continue to next step.
13. CHECK CAN MAIN BUS LINE FOR DISCONNECTION
(a) Disconnect the HV control ECU main bus line connector (J56) from the CAN RH J/C B side (without earth terminal).
