P0705-180
L110 HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL: HYBRID CONTROL SYSTEM: P0705-180: Transmission Range Sensor Circuit
DTC P0705-180 - Transmission Range Sensor Circuit
DESCRIPTION
When the shift lever is in the S position, discretion can be used to select ranges using the floor shift sequential gate.
HINT: DTC P0705-180 indicates a malfunction in the transmission control switch circuit.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
CAUTION:
- Before inspecting the high-voltage system or disconnecting the low voltage connector of the inverter with converter assembly, take safety precautions such as wearing insulated gloves and removing the service plug grip to prevent electrical shocks. After removing the service plug grip, put it in your pocket to prevent other technicians from accidentally reconnecting it while you are working on the high-voltage system.
- After disconnecting the service plug grip, wait for at least 10 minutes before touching any of the high-voltage connectors or terminals. After waiting, check the voltage at the inspection point in the inverter with converter assembly. The voltage should be 0 V before beginning work.
HINT: Waiting for at least 10 minutes is required to discharge the high-voltage capacitor inside the inverter with converter assembly.
PROCEDURE
1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (SPORTS MODE)
(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
(b) Turn the power switch on (IG).
(c) Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Data List / Sports Mode.
(d) Read the data list.
Result:
NG -- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT)
OK -- Continue to next step.
2. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (SPORTS UP SIG, SPORTS DOWN SIG)
(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
(b) Turn the power switch on (IG).
(c) Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Data List / Sports Shift Up Signal, Sports Shift Down Signal.
(d) Read the data list.
Result:
OK -- CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS
NG -- Continue to next step.
3. INSPECT TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH
(a) Disconnect connector K36 from the transmission control switch.
(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:
NG -- REPLACE TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH
OK -- Continue to next step.
4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH - HV CONTROL ECU)
(a) Connect the transmission control switch connector.
(b) Disconnect connector A54 from the hybrid vehicle control ECU.
(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU
5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT)
(a) Disconnect connector K36 from the transmission control switch.
(b) Turn the power switch on (IG).
(c) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard voltage:
NG -- CHECK POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT
OK -- Continue to next step.
6. INSPECT TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH
(a) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:
NG -- REPLACE TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH
OK -- Continue to next step.
7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH - HV CONTROL ECU)
(a) Connect the transmission control switch connector.
(b) Disconnect connector A54 from the hybrid vehicle control ECU.
(c) Turn the power switch on (IG).
(d) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard voltage:
NOTE: Turning the power switch on (IG) with the hybrid vehicle control ECU connector disconnected causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU
8. CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS
(a) Check for intermittent problems Check For Intermittent Problems.
(1) Move the shift lever to the S position, then jiggle the wire harness and connector.
(2) Move the shift lever to the + and - positions and jiggle the wire harness and connectors.
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE MALFUNCTIONING PARTS, COMPONENT AND AREA
OK -- REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU
