CAN COMMUNICATION: CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM: DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM

1. BUS CHECK

(a) Using the Techstream, select "CAN Bus Check" from "System Select".

2. CHECK FOR INSTALLED SYSTEMS (ECUS & SENSORS) THAT USE CAN COMMUNICATION

(a) Systems (ECUs, sensors) that use CAN communication vary depending on the vehicle optional settings. Check which systems (ECUs, sensors) are installed on the vehicle.

3. DTC TABLE BY ECU

* In the CAN communication system, CAN communication system DTCs can be displayed by the ECU using the Techstream.
* If CAN communication system DTCs are output, trouble cannot be determined only by the DTCs. Perform troubleshooting according to "HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING" How to Proceed With Troubleshooting.

(a) ECM

HINT
DTC communication uses the CAN communication system.

HINT
*: The ECM is malfunctioning if U0001 is output alone. Replace the ECM.

(b) HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU

HINT
DTC communication uses the CAN communication system.

HINT
* *1: U0293 is output when an error occurs in communication from the hybrid vehicle control ECU to the distance control ECU.
* *2: U0293 is output when an error occurs in communication from the hybrid vehicle control ECU to the skid control ECU.
* *3: U1101 is output when an error occurs in communication from the distance control ECU to the hybrid vehicle control ECU.

(c) SKID CONTROL ECU

DTC communication uses the CAN communication system.

(d) ABSORBER CONTROL ECU

HINT
DTC communication uses the SIL line.

(e) POWER STEERING ECU

HINT
DTC communication uses the SIL line.

(f) SEAT BELT CONTROL ECU

DTC communication uses the SIL line.

*: The Techstream's "CODES ALL" screen will be displayed. However, when only U0235 and U1102 are output, the CAN communication system is not malfunctioning U0235.

(g) STEERING CONTROL ECU

HINT
DTC communication uses the SIL line.

(h) ACTIVE STABILIZER CONTROL ECU

For vehicles with the active stabilizer suspension system.

DTC communication uses the SIL line.

(i) NAVIGATION ECU

For vehicles with the navigation system.

HINT
DTC communication uses the CAN communication system.

(j) NETWORK GATEWAY ECU

HINT
The network gateway ECU is connected to the CAN communication system but CAN communication DTCs are not output.

(k) DISTANCE CONTROL ECU

HINT
The distance control ECU is connected to the CAN communication system but CAN communication DTCs are not output.

4. DTC COMBINATION TABLE

* [Square]: Outputs under the following condition
* X: Not output or may be output according to the malfunction part when one side of the CAN bus line opens

* [Triangle]: Only when one side has an open circuit
* X: Not output or may be output according to the malfunction part when one side of the CAN bus line opens
* *: When a CAN No. 2 communication error other than ECM error occurs, a DTC is stored
* Check stop mode by using the results of BUS CHECK for the clearance warning ECU Clearance Warning ECU Communication Stop Mode and the distance control ECU Distance Control ECU Communication Stop Mode.

(a) Perform troubleshooting according to the combination of DTCs output.

ECM COMMUNICATION STOP MODE: ECM Communication Stop Mode

SKID CONTROL ECU COMMUNICATION STOP MODE: U0122

YAW RATE SENSOR COMMUNICATION STOP MODE: U0123

STEERING ANGLE SENSOR COMMUNICATION STOP MODE: U0126

SEAT BELT CONTROL ECU COMMUNICATION STOP MODE: Seat Belt Control ECU Communication Stop Mode

STEERING CONTROL ECU COMMUNICATION STOP MODE: U0130

ABSORBER CONTROL ECU COMMUNICATION STOP MODE: U0132

NETWORK GATEWAY ECU COMMUNICATION STOP MODE: Gateway ECU Communication Stop Mode

POWER STEERING ECU COMMUNICATION STOP MODE: U0131

HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU COMMUNICATION STOP MODE: Hybrid Vehicle Control ECU Communication Stop Mode

FRONT ACTIVE STABILIZER CONTROL ECU COMMUNICATION STOP MODE: U1108.

REAR ACTIVE STABILIZER CONTROL ECU COMMUNICATION STOP MODE: U1109.

NAVIGATION ECU COMMUNICATION STOP MODE: Navigation ECU Communication Stop Mode.
