2UR-GSE FUEL: FUEL PUMP (for High Pressure): REMOVAL

1. PRECAUTION

CAUTION:
* Do not smoke or work near an open flame when handling the fuel system.
* Keep gasoline away from rubber or leather parts.
* Do not allow fuel to spray when removing the pipe between the high pressure side fuel pump assembly and the fuel injector assembly. The fuel in the pipe is highly pressurized.
2. DISCHARGE FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE

(a) Discharge fuel system pressure Service Precautions.

3. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

NOTICE:
When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Repair Instruction - Initialization.

4. REMOVE FUEL PRESSURE PULSATION DAMPER ASSEMBLY (for Direct Injection)

(a) Remove the 2 fuel pressure pulsation damper assemblies and No. 1 fuel pipe sub-assembly Removal.

5. REMOVE ENGINE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Bank 1)





(a) Detach the 5 claws and remove the engine cover sub-assembly LH and RH from the fuel pump assembly.

6. REMOVE ENGINE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Bank 2)

HINT
Use the same procedure as for the bank 1 side.

7. REMOVE NO. 3 FUEL PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the high pressure side fuel pump assembly connector.

(b) Secure the union bolt on the fuel pump assembly side in place with a 21 mm wrench. Using a 19 mm union nut wrench, loosen the union nut and disconnect the fuel pipe from the fuel pump assembly.





NOTICE:
Do not loosen the union bolt on the fuel pump side. If the union bolt is accidentally loosened, replace the fuel pump assembly.

(c) Remove the 2 bolts on the delivery pipe side and remove the No. 3 fuel pipe sub-assembly.





8. REMOVE NO. 2 FUEL PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the high pressure side fuel pump assembly connector.

(b) Secure the union bolt on the fuel pump assembly side in place with a 21 mm wrench. Using a 19 mm union nut wrench, loosen the union nut and disconnect the fuel pipe from the fuel pump assembly.

NOTICE:
Do not loosen the union bolt on the fuel pump side. If the union bolt is accidentally loosened, replace the fuel pump assembly.

HINT
Use the same procedure as for the bank 1 side.

(c) Remove the 2 bolts on the delivery pipe side and separate the No. 2 fuel pipe sub-assembly.





(d) Remove the bolt and No. 2 fuel pipe sub-assembly.





9. REMOVE FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY (for Bank 1)

(a) Disconnect the fuel hose from the fuel pump assembly.





(b) Remove the 2 nuts, fuel pump assembly and fuel pump insulator.





10. REMOVE FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY (for Bank 2)

Use the same procedure as for the bank 1 side.
