Removal and Installation
REMOVAL
WARNING:
To avoid the danger of being scalded, do not drain the coolant when the engine is hot.
1.Remove the cowl top. Refer to "Removal and Installation" Removal And Installation.
2.Remove the strut tower bar. Refer to "Exploded View" Exploded View.
3.Remove the engine room cover. Refer to"Removal and Installation" Removal And Installation.
4.Remove front air duct and air duct hose and resonator assembly. Refer to "Removal and Installation" Removal And Installation.
5.Partially drain the engine coolant. Refer to "Changing Engine Coolant" Service and Repair.
NOTE:
This step is only required when removing electric throttle control actuator from the vehicle.
6.Remove the electric throttle control actuator bolts in the reverse order as shown and remove the electric throttle control actuator and position aside.
CAUTION:
- Handle carefully to avoid any shock to the electric throttle control actuator.
- Do not disassemble.
7.Disconnect the following:
- Power brake booster vacuum hose
- Fuel injector electrical connectors
- PCV hose
- Electric throttle control actuator electrical connector
- EVAP canister purge hose
CAUTION:
Cover any engine openings to avoid the entry of any foreign material.
8.Remove the EVAP canister purge volume solenoid valve bracket bolt. Position the valve aside.
9.Loosen the intake manifold collector nuts and bolts in the reverse order as shown using power tool, and remove the intake manifold collector and gasket.
10.If necessary remove the following components:
- VIAS control solenoid valve
- EVAP canister purge volume control solenoid valve
INSTALLATION
CAUTION:
Do not reuse intake manifold collector gasket or electric throttle control actuator gasket.
Installation is in the reverse order of removal.
- Tighten intake manifold collector nuts and bolts in the order as shown.
Nuts and bolts :11.0 Nm (1.1 kg-m, 8 ft-lb)
- Tighten electric throttle control actuator bolts in the order shown.
Bolts: 8.4 Nm (0.86 kg-m, 74 in-lb)
NOTE:
After installation, it is necessary to re-calibrate the electric throttle control actuator as follows:
1.Perform the "Throttle Valve Closed Position Learning" when harness connector of the electric throttle control actuator is disconnected. Refer to "Work Procedure" Work Procedure.
2.Perform the "Idle Air Volume Learning" when the electric throttle control actuator is replaced. Refer to EC681, "Work Procedure".
