Intake Manifold: Service and Repair




Intake Manifold Replacement

Removal Procedure




1. Drain the engine coolant. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (Service and Repair).
2. Remove the engine cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement (Service and Repair).
3. Remove the air cleaner assembly with hose.
4. Remove the throttle body assembly. Refer to Throttle Body Assembly Replacement (Service and Repair).
5. Remove the bolt and wire harness bracket.
6. Disconnect the 3 hoses.
7. Remove the 4 bolts (1, 3, 5, 6), 2 nuts (2, 4), intake manifold support and intake manifold.




8. Remove the gasket (1) from the intake manifold.
9. Using a TORX(R) socket E6, remove the 2 stud bolts from the intake manifold.

Installation Procedure





Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

1. Using a TORX(R) socket E6, install the 2 stud bolts to the intake manifold and tighten to 5.0 Nm (44 lb in).
2. Connect the bracket with the bolt and tighten to 10 Nm (8 lb ft).
3. Install a new gasket (1) into the intake manifold.




4. Install the intake manifold and intake manifold support with the 4 bolts (1, 3, 5, 6) and 2 nuts (2, 4) and tighten to 28 Nm (21 lb ft).
5. Connect the 3 hoses.
6. Connect the wire harness bracket with the bolt and tighten to 10 Nm (8 lb ft).
7. Install the throttle body assembly. Refer to Throttle Body Assembly Replacement (Service and Repair)
8. Install the air cleaner assembly with hose.
9. Install the engine cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement (Service and Repair).
10. Add the engine coolant. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (Service and Repair)
11. Inspect for coolant leak.
