Removal








3MZ-FE INTAKE: INTAKE MANIFOLD: REMOVAL

REMOVAL

1. DISCHARGE FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE
HINT:
Technician Safety Information.

2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
CAUTION: When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Repair Instruction - Initialization.

3. REMOVE FRONT WIPER ARM AND BLADE ASSEMBLY LH

4. REMOVE FRONT WIPER ARM AND BLADE ASSEMBLY RH

5. REMOVE HOOD TO COWL TOP SEAL

6. REMOVE COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER SUB-ASSEMBLY

7. REMOVE WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR AND LINK ASSEMBLY

8. REMOVE OUTER COWL TOP PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY

9. REMOVE COOL AIR INTAKE DUCT SEAL Removal

10. REMOVE NO. 2 ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER LH Removal

11. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT (for Engine) Service and Repair

12. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CAP SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal

13. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CASE SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal

14. REMOVE AIR CLEANER BRACKET Removal

15. REMOVE EMISSION CONTROL VALVE SET






(a) Disconnect the VSV connector (A).
(b) Remove the wire harness clamp (B).
(c) Disconnect the No. 1 fuel vapor feed hose (C).
(d) Disconnect the No. 2 fuel vapor feed hose (D).
(e) Remove the 2 nuts (E), then remove the emission control valve set.
16. REMOVE INTAKE AIR SURGE TANK






(a) Disconnect the throttle motor connector (A).
(b) Separate the No. 2 water by-pass hose (B).
(c) Separate the No. 3 water by-pass hose (C).
(d) Separate the fuel vapor feed hose (D).






(e) Disconnect the ventilation hose.






(f) Remove the 2 bolts and No. 1 engine hanger (A).
(g) Remove the 2 bolts and No. 1 surge tank stay (B).
(h) Remove the 2 bolts and No. 2 surge tank stay (C).






(i) Disconnect the ground cable connector.
(j) Using a socket hexagon wrench 8 mm, remove the 4 bolts.
(k) Remove the 2 nuts, then remove the emission control valve bracket and the intake air surge tank.
(l) Remove the gasket from the intake air surge tank.
17. DISCONNECT FUEL PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY






(a) Remove the No. 1 EFI fuel pipe clamp.
(b) Pinch the quick connector and then pull out the No. 1 fuel pipe.
NOTICE:
- Remove dirt or foreign objects on the quick connector before this work.
- Do not allow any scratches or foreign objects on the connecting surfaces when disconnecting as the fuel hose connector has the O-ring that seals the pipe.
- Perform this work by hand. Do not use any tools.
- Do not forcibly bend, twist or turn the nylon tube.
- Protect the connecting surfaces by covering them with a vinyl bag after disconnecting the pipe.
- If the quick connector and pipe are stuck, push and pull to release them.

18. DISCONNECT INLET HEATER WATER HOSE






(a) Disconnect the inlet heater water hose.
19. REMOVE INTAKE MANIFOLD






(a) Remove the nut and disconnect the ground cable.






(b) Disconnect the 6 fuel injector connectors.






(c) In order to remove the intake manifold, using several steps, remove the 9 bolts, 2 nuts and 2 washers uniformly in the sequence shown in the illustration.
