Shift Mechanism
Removing
- First determine whether a coded radio is installed. In this case, determine anti-theft coding.
- Place selector lever in position "P".
- Disconnect battery Ground (GND) cable with ignition switched off.
- Remove selector lever handle => [ Selector Lever Handle ] Selector Lever Handle.
- Remove center console.
- Disconnect harness connector from circuit board.
- Carefully pry off frame - 1 - at four corners - arrows - and remove.
- Lift securing lever - 1 - in direction of - arrow A - and pull off locking cable - 2 - in direction of - arrow B - from selector mechanism.
- Disconnect harness connector - 3 -.
- Remove nuts - arrows A - and remove bracket - 1 -.
- Remove bolt - arrow B -.
- Remove bolts - arrows -.
- Lift selector mechanism gently and pry off selector cable - 1 -.
- Remove selector mechanism.
Installing
Installation is in reverse order of removal, note the following:
- Do not bend or kink selector lever cable.
- Do not grease ball socket of selector lever cable.
- Engage locking cable at selector mechanism into locking lever => [ Locking Cable ] Service and Repair.
- Adjust locking cable => [ Locking Cable, Adjusting ] Locking Cable, Adjusting.
- Ignition key removal lock, checking function => [ Ignition Key Lock, Checking Function ] .
- Carefully place cover - 1 - on selector mechanism and lock with retaining straps - arrows - (qty. 4).
If retaining straps - arrows - are damaged, cover must be replaced completely.
- Connect all harness connectors.
- Install center console.
- Install selector lever handle. => [ Selector Lever Handle ] Selector Lever Handle
- Connect battery and observe safety precautions after connecting battery.
- Adjust selector lever cable => [ Selector Lever Cable, Checking ] Selector Lever Cable, Checking.
- Check shift mechanism => [ Shift Mechanism, Checking ] Procedures.
