Fuel Injectors

Fuel Injectors

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Tool set (T10133)

The (T10133/2) was changed. It is now called the (T10133/2A). If the new tool is not available, the old one can be modified.

(T10133/2) has been changed to (T10133/2A).

Procedure

- File the semicircle using a round file (approximately 6 mm) as shown in the illustration.

The semicircle allows the (T10133/2) to slide farther onto the fuel injector, thus providing the (T10133/2) with a larger contact surface.

- Mark the modified (T10133/2) with an "A " at the end of the tool number.

Removing

Fuel injector individual parts. Refer to --> [ Fuel Injector Individual Parts ] Fuel Rail Assembly Overview.

- Remove the intake manifold with the fuel rail. Refer to --> [ Intake Manifold with Fuel Rail ] Intake Manifold With Fuel Rail.

- Cover the intake ports with clean cloths.

If the fuel injectors remain stuck in the fuel rail, carefully pull them out.

- Remove the support element - A - downward and disconnect the connector - arrows - from the fuel injectors.

- Position the (T10133/2A) in the groove on the fuel injector.

- Mount the (T10133/16), turn the screw - 1 - and remove the fuel injector.

Pay attention to the intermediate rings.

If new fuel injectors are not going to be installed, then clean the old injectors before installing. Refer to --> [ Fuel Injectors, Cleaning ] Procedures.

The combustion chamber seal (Teflon seal) must always be replaced before reinstalling the fuel injectors. Refer to --> [ Fuel Injector Combustion Chamber Teflon Seal ] Fuel Injector Combustion Chamber Teflon Seal.

Installing

Combustion chamber sealing ring (Teflon sealing ring) for the fuel injector must not be oiled or greased.

It is possible an opened intake valve may hinder the cleaning of bores in cylinder head. In this case, engine must be turned further by hand using a wrench on the crankshaft.

- Thoroughly clean the bores for the fuel injectors in the cylinder head using the (T10133/4).

- Replace the fuel injector combustion chamber seal (Teflon seal) - 1 -. Refer to --> [ Fuel Injector Combustion Chamber Teflon Seal ] Fuel Injector Combustion Chamber Teflon Seal.

- Replace the fuel injector O-ring - 5 - and support ring - 4 -.

- Install the fuel injector with the intermediate ring - 2 - again.

Do not apply any grease or other lubricant to the combustion chamber seal (Teflon seal) - 1 - before installing.

Lightly lubricate the O-ring - 5 - with clean engine oil when installing.

- Use the (T10133/2A) - 2 - in order to push the fuel injector all the way into the hole in the cylinder head.

- Make sure the fuel injectors are positioned correctly in the cylinder head - arrow -.

- Install the intake manifold with the fuel rail. Refer to --> [ Intake Manifold with Fuel Rail ] Intake Manifold With Fuel Rail.
